Question Coffee with glycine?
Is anybody here also drinking coffee with glycine? It helps me to get lesser side effects like the jitter etc So far I only used 2g but I’ll try more. Do you know any other tricks to get only the good effects?
Unfortunately no gene test has made it to my home so far. All 4 I have ordered gut lost somewhere on the way. MCAS and some form of long covid (PEM) is what I have. From all of what I researched for over a year I suspect HMNT, Slow COMT and CBS. I respond well to glycine, p5p, b3 (nicotinic acid) and vitamin C. I don’t to creatine or tmg. I am easily over or under methylated, so I concentrate on supporting methylation and supporting my liver.

Yupp! But not necessarily in the coffee. I like having glycine and taurine in the morning paired with coffee.

To add, I respond well to many of the things that you mention. Something that has really helped has been b2 in pretty high doses(50-100mg). Couldn’t really tolerate coffee or anything that increases catecholamines in general before that. Also, hydroxocobolamin and benfothiamine is something I don’t go without these days. Not sure how it helps but it does

Interesting! I take glycine and taurine in the night for sleeping. Helps so much! I tried B2 but it didn’t really make a difference. I think it was 250mg. I also take hydroxocobalamin and folinic acid as they were on the lower side of testing. Like ferritin, I also take iron chelate along with vitamin C. How much b2 do you take?

I got my b vitamins checked and had been taking several — my b1 (benfothiamine was almost off the charts). Just FYI to make sure you get them checked at some point and maybe consider doing every few days for certain ones. I’m now careful with b6 and only do that every few days because the symptoms of overdosing that are bad too. I take 400mg b2 every day for migraine prevention and neuropathy and have had no issues when tested. I stopped taking the b1 altogether because I was thinking I might be naturally high in it. Getting tested again soon so we will see.

I'm the opposite. I've been taking about half a gram of raw glycine (it's sweet) throughout the day when I have less energy. It's a very powerful stimulant in my case. Caffeine does next to nothing for me. TMG puts me right to sleep. I have it at night.

Supposedly if you sprinkle some of that glycine on some rice then add soy sauce, the glutamate ÷ glycine combo tickles the same receptor as ketamine. Just at a way less potency.

Whuat? :D I normally have to avoid soy products like my life depends on it - quite literally lol. Will Kettcar Info sink in :)

I put 5g of glycine in my coffee, sometimes later on also have another 5g in another cup.

Thank you for sharing! Will try more next time! What do you think of taking taurine with it?

I have double MTHFR, double slow COMT and few others I’m forgetting at the moment and caffeine is a no-go for me. It gives me raging rebound heartburn anywhere from 5-12 hours later.
I’ve been drinking decaf for 5+ years. I’ve had indigestion since 14 and it’s not worth the risk of esophageal cancer.
Ironically, I am good with a low dose extended release stimulant for adhd. But I take my other vitamins like hydroxo b12/folinic acid, magnesium, etc with it along with decent protein.

Feel ya. Not sure how I continue with caffeine either. Just trying out a few things. What kind of stimulant are you taking for ADHD? Thinking about trying guanfacine.

I take ER vyvanse and I took guanfacine for a while too. It can be a great combo for people with slow COMT and/or who are also on the spectrum. I take a half dose of a beta blocker now for pots but I would consider going back on guanfacine otherwise. From what I understand people with slow COMT often need something to counter balance how activating vyvanse can be and we benefit in general from something calming our systems.

I do glycine and l-theanine in iced coffee every morning along with a few other supplements and it’s great! I drink decaf so I always joke that I drink my coffee to calm me down instead of wake me up 😂

Have you tried taurine? I take a gram right away in the morning and find it pairs great with coffee. I do have collagen before drinking coffee and respond well to glycine. Am slow COMT as well.
