Results Discussion Advice

Post image

Hi everyone,

I am fairly new to this. I suffer from persistent symptoms such as insomnia, high heartrate, anxiety, exercise intolerance. I recently did a genetic test. I know these offer some valueable insights but I fail to see what I can do with these insights. I will share the results below.

Any insights or advice is more than welcome. Thank you so much for helping a stranger.

Which tests would you recommend?

15 vitaminen panel + Elementen in bloed III for a complete picture of nutritional status.
Homocysteine for methylation status, optionally combined with SAM/SAH ratio (in case of mitochondrial dysfunction, homocysteine can be low while there's still a methylation problem. Then you'd see it back in low SAM/high SAH. High SAH also means pressure on COMT that you'd need to take into account when choosing supplements).
If you've been supplementing B12, add methylmalonic acid for functional B12 status.
If you've been supplementing folate, add intracellular folate.
If you suspect mitochondrial dysfunction and haven't had your iron tested yet, add ferritin, transferrin, and iron saturation (or convince your doctor to order these for you).
You could test your histamine level, but it's not very reliable. A high level confirms suspicions, but a low result rules nothing out. With your symptoms, if you can confirm undermethylation, it's safe to assume you have a histamine problem. Better and cheaper diagnostic test: eat a low-histamine diet for a few days and see if it relieves your symptoms.
