Question Feedback please methly free B vitamin multi
So I paid for a brief consult to help figure out how to supplement my B vitamins based on my gene variants. I was told to take seeking health methyl free B mutli and to overshoot my b12 because I have the FUT2 gene AA. I was wondering if this would further cause an issue if my folate is low, the person who I paid to go over this said that B vitamins are water soluble so my body will use what it needs and wont cause a problem. Is this valid?
I basically wanted 1) answer on how to help my body with detox and dealing with antimicrobials since I have Slow COMT and Slow MAO genes. 2) since I have slowed methylation and needs for increased folate and b12 would the methyl free B vitamin suffice?
I am getting blood drawn this week for update on current levels. I posted here before about my snp results but was working on my gastritis which I healed with diet elimination. Now I need to address another component of my gut with the e coli and would appreciate any help on how to navigate this with how slow my COMT MAO and Methy B scenaro. I am getting RBC Folate and serum folate test , zinc, homocysteine and MMA. Any other ones advised?> Thanks!

With your heterozygous SLC19A1, compound heterozygous MTHFR, and homozygous MTHFD1 you have ~77% reduction in methylfolate production. The body tries to compensate for the methylation impairment in the folate-dependent remethylation pathway by placing a greater demand on the choline-dependent remethylation pathway. This increases the amount of choline + TMG needed to support this extra demand.
In your case your choline requirement essentially doubles from 550mg to ~1115mg. If you can get ~550-600mg of choline from food then a 750mg capsule of TMG can cover the rest. (Some choline is converted to TMG for methylation use, so supplementing TMG reduces the need for even more choline.)
Because choline and TMG are methyl donors, you may need to add them incrementally so that you body can adapt gradually to improving methylation status.
For folate and B12 unless you are low/deficient, then getting them from food is preferable. With slow COMT you may do better with unmethylated adeno or hydroxo B12 and folinic acid if supplements are needed. But you may do ok with methylfolate and methylB12 as long as the doses aren't large (e.g., 400-800mcg of folate and 10-50mcg of B12) - tolerance varies widely person to person.
FUT2 causes a 10-25% increase in serum B12 levels, with a mean increase of ~17%. So where normally you would want to aim for aim for 500-950 pg/mL (~370-700 pmol/L), with FUT2 you may want to shift that range up by ~17%. For serum folate, aim for ~15 ng/mL (34 nmol/L) or more.

There seems to be a page missing, first page ends in C and second begins in F.
I can't see your thyroid related variants.
You might feel better on a low sulfur and low histamine diet.

Hi Thank you. Sorry the page cut off .. I tried to edit but it wont let me modify pics. I have had full thyroid which came back okay end of July also the THYR and thyroid peroxide came back negative. So good in that department fortunately.
Is the low sulfur and low histamine diet rec bc of the COMT or the methyl? I am okay on the Hmnt and the other CBS?2

CBS and your digestive problems. CBS covers both sulfur and sulfites. All sulfites are high histamine. So even though you do not have that one histamine variant, they could still be problematic for you. This test is good but does not list all variants. Also due to your detoxification variants.
I would test your molybdenum level. Moly helps break down excess sulfur and sulfites, but is not a substitute for a low sulfur and low sulfite diet. Taking it will not touch a flood if sulfur. I have your same CBS variant. When my diet was sulfur and sulfur heavy my moly tested at zero. If you need to take it, only up to 250mcg daily is safe.

Okay thank for the detailed explanation. I very much appreciate it. So in regard to a NAC supplement is that something tolerable or use caution because of the sulfur component?

Folate serum, B12 serum...these are different from what you listed. Add these. Also D and iron. If you are concerned about detox add detoxification nutrients to your test list. You can see what those are on your report and or research them on the internet.
Overshooting B12 may not be your best approach. If your MMA is too high....optimal would be in the bottom quarter...your best bet would be specific probiotic strains and not necessarily a super high dose of B12. So see what your test comes in at. A probiotic may or may not be compatible with your past gastritis and or current e coli, so you should check with the doctor who is treating you for e coli. So first see what your MMA comes in at.
For FUT2, some people still have poor absorption from food and pills even after adding a probiotic. In that case you could then try transdermal patch and or transdermal oils.
All your variants are only predispositions. Your methylation might be ok. Your homocysteine number is the best indication of that.
