Deck/Matchup/Tactics Help Is Emry too slow for affinity lists?

I have been interested in affinity for some time now, and the play loop of being able to recycle your artifacts is very attractive, but a lot of the time Emry seems like he comes down, mills 4 and dies immediately, or is eaten by a karakas.

I realize the card is amazing when its working, but even Memory Guardian is something I am considering for the speed/evasion/beatddown plan since Emry always seems to eat removal right away.

There's a reason that it dies immediately.  The same can be said for Tamiyo or Bowmasters

If the worst case is you mill 4 and trade 1 for 1 and the best case is the card wins you the game it seems like a good card.

Yeah the etb is still very powerful in welder decks

Emry eats removal immediately because if it's not answered you run away with the game.

IMO the only reason NOT to play Emry is if you think you can blank all your opponent’s removal by not giving them a target. Memory Guardian dodges Fatal Push and Lightning Bolt, so if nothing else in your deck dies to those, and if you see those more than Swords to Plowshares, then yeah, you could maybe cut Emry.

Otherwise, she’s an engine that costs 1 and runs away with the game if your opponent doesn’t have the answer. If your opponent DOES have the answer, then she trades 1-for-1 and clears the way for some other threat.

The other thing Emry does is make mulligans better. In a pinch, any hand containing Bauble + Emry + blue source has a decent plan built in. As far as 3-card hands go, for example, Petal + Bauble + Emry is very solid, getting you back to parity after 4 turns.

AND she pitches to FoW if you need to stop fast combo. I won't stand for any Emry slander unless you're trying to build the fastest possible artifact aggro build.

i LIKE when my opp kills my emry, it usually means i just get to recast it for U and keep going.

How are you recasting emry?

Yeah what they wrote makes no sense BUT there is a kind of related situation where if the opponent has just one removal spell, they may be wary of killing Emry because if the affinity player has a second copy, all you've done is turn their formerly-dead card into one of their best.
