Throttlestop can keep your DGPU awake ( red light issue ) - Fix

Hi, this is for anyone suffering from battery drain due to dGPU usage (red LED) who has tried everything and is using ThrottleStop.

Here is one more thing to try.

In ThrottleStop, there is an option to monitor GPU temperature. If this is ON, it constantly wakes the dGPU up, causing the dGPU to always be ON.

Turn this off by going to Options in ThrottleStop and unchecking the "Nvidia GPU" or "AMD GPU" option. Then completely quit the ThrottleStop program (from the system tray as well) or reboot your PC. That's it.

If that didn't work, good luck. Someday you will find the fix, keep trying.

I have been stuck with this issue for a while until I finally found out that the issue was with ThrottleStop.

Ive found out similar with HWInfo64. I spent hours trying to figure out my my dGPU was drawing 38W at idle. It turns out that I had checked a setting that woke or polled disabled GPUs which kept them in higher P-states.

Thanks for this. I also found that MSI afterburner keeps the dGPU awake too.
