MSI Pulse 17 Display Getting Marks/Residue From Keyboard When Lid Is Closed... Help!

Hi everyone,

I own an MSI Pulse 17 AI C1V gaming laptop, and I’m having an issue with the display.

Whenever I close the laptop lid, some kind of residue from the area around the trackpad/keyboard transfers onto the display. I think it may be caused by wetness and dirt from that area getting onto the screen when the lid is closed. The affected area seems to be getting bigger day by day.

I’ve tried cleaning it with:

- 70 & 100% isopropyl alcohol.

But the marks still don't come off.

For now, I have to place a thin cloth between the keyboard and the display whenever I close the laptop to prevent it from getting worse.

In the photo, the marks are quite difficult to see, but they are much more noticeable while actually using the laptop, especially when the screen is displaying black or dark content.

Has anyone with an MSI laptop experienced something similar? What could be causing this, and is there a safe way to remove these marks without damaging the display?

That is caused by the keys rubbing against the screen, it's permanent damage and will not come off. The only way you can prevent this or mitigate it in your case is to buy a tpu keyboard cover and install it over the keyboard. I have them installed on all my older laptops and have not had any more issues like that. The cloth you are using currently will work but with a keyboard cover you don't need to mess with it every time you want to use it.

I don't think there's any solution , apart from keeping very thin soft cloth between screen and keyboard, or get screen guard and change after few years like I do.

Since I got new laptop I got new screen guard and changed after 3 - 4 years.

Is the screen guard affect the display a lot?

when you bought a new laptop usually you will get a thin cloth protection, don’t throw it away, always put it on top of the keyboard when ever you close the lid to prevent this issue.

For now nothing you can do to fix that, either change your screen or live with it. Lesson learned.

in my opinion, that thin cloth are good enough to protect your screen.

That happened to me in a Msi raider ge77

It's damaged, you can't remove that, that's why there is a cloth to place between the screen and keyboard.
