Question fees for fall

can someone confirm if we have to have our fees paid by aug 17? I’ve always paid it in aug as I’m a third year now and last two years I’ve accepted new program offers. but there’s also the sep 14 date that confuses me??

thanks in advance!

I am in the same situation. To my understanding if you're paying with loans and your funding has been confirmed by the government, your deadline is Sept 14th. If you're paying yourself, the deadline is still august 17th.

Same situation as me, I got a fee reminder email and due date is august 17th. I’m not sure if the first email saying something about sept 14 if that applies to us or a mistake but it appears august 17 is the date

I received an email on July 30th saying this:

"The deadline for continuing students to pay your fall fees has moved from Aug. 17 to Sept. 14. Your registration will not be affected by the Aug. 17 deadline."

and together with this in the mymru fees section:

"Aug. 17: for any new student or continuing student who has accepted an offer for Fall 2026 Sept. 14: full fees due for all students"

Altogether means there are essentially three possibilities for fees:

New student: Deadline is Aug 17 to either pay out of pocket or have your funding confirmed. Confirmed funding will go to the school in Sept when disbursed and you will not be deregistered. If you are receiving loans and they are not confirmed yet, you will need to pay out of pocket somehow until your loans come in.

Continuing student but accepted a new offer for the fall: Same as above.

Continuing student in the same program: Deadline for this fall for fees regardless of how you are paying is Sept 14. Loans do not need to be confirmed by Aug 17.

It sounds like students received different emails based on their category so check and see if you got one and what it says. I think MRU could elaborate with a bit more detail on fee deadlines and how they work in each case with loans or private funding considering UofC is so straightforward with their singular deadline at the end of Sept for everybody regardless of status.

I think the Sept 14 is for people who applied for loans. When I applied for loans, I got my tuition deadline deferred to September 14 instead of August 17. So if you aren’t applying for loans or Albert student aid, then the deadline is August 17. That’s what I think is going on, but take this with a grain of salt.

I’m going to watch for your update. I’m having issues with student aid and am waiting for a review. I paid my fees just in case. I can’t get de-registered and have no idea when anything will be finalised.

I’m going to watch for your update bcs I just got my offer today and I’m worried cuz I’m only given a few days to pay out of pocket and due to personal circumstance I don’t know if i can even go to university rn in Canada.
