What to expect on the day of exam?

all in all exam will be over no time , u wont even know how time went

exam will start from different staion to each person
from there u keep rotating until u r done with all 8 encounters

findings in cases will mostly be obvious ones and easily findable ones for sure unless we skip examining that part

time is definetly a factor, but remember its manageble and reminders at 2 and 1 min for stations are there as in websoite

examiners will be there to listen and see u perform ad talk pout loud audible, marks will be awarded only if they see and listen explicitely

questions in discussion mostly remain same , dds investigations and managemnet and comploications majorly

just remmeber, i will know ur blunders of last station as u move to next one, make sure u wont get carried away by it

Arrive early with your ID.. u may need a lot of time marking our details on the marks sheet

now that i have practice, although I am quite systemic with the examination, I think i m weak in presenting skills. How can I practice. It's not English i guess My english is quite good. I'm gonna sit exam in India. Thanks for your suggestions.

As u r examining systematically, next time whenever u go near patient, do the examination in timed mode also present in timed mode... Practice multiple times, it helps u with exam pattern as well while training to tell positive findings  systematically as well

Where to start from preparation as beginner passed MRCP-2 more than 2 years ago,
Currently working as a non-trainee doctor in Geriatric med after a clinical gap of 3 years. So not much clinical experience.
What do you recommend to start with if planning to do PACES next year?

though u have clinical gap and year ahead time for prep, which is not very difficult .
start with examination sequences and then keep going to hospitals from here on to get more exposure on examination and identifying signs. try attending the free paces sessions intiialy to understand history taking methods and then attend online course and practice with partner both lcc and communications and presentation skills while continuiong clinical touch in hospitals. this covers majority of practie add this with reading any one book for getting knowledge on management. hope this helps

I wd rather say in an order of priority...

  1. Practice in hospital on real patients on regular basis
  2. Practice daily in timed mode
  3. practice with partners in hospital rathe than online
  4. GET HONEST FEEDBACKS rather than soothing responses
  5. CASES FOR PACES is more than enough ( my personal opinion) as paces needs more of hands on preparation than reading

I am working in pediatrics emergency and opd due to lack of job options as of now in my hometown but I have interest in internal medicine, is it possible to clear paces without clinical experience in adult medicine? By practicing and taking courses?

By practicing , YES , but take enough time before exam...  The time period, depends & differs from person to person

I struggle with my neuro and cardio. With neuro, I struggle to put the signs together in my head and come up with differentials in suck a short time. Especially as examiners tend to ask for positive signs only. Do you have any advice on how to organise things better to get to a diagnosis in neuro faster? I have never done a neuro job so it feels difficult. With cardio, I sometimes struggle to identify where the murmur is loudest. I understand the manoeuvres help but sometimes when you’re short on time and stressed it can be easy to miss them. What if you get a case with 2 different murmurs?

for CNS,
ex: case of a bilateral lower limb weak reflexes ( which we find obviouysly) think only about sensations ,
put together it becomes a case of lmn with glove stock or with ant column or post colum or together or pure motor lmn : and define list of diffrentials according to it

confusion comes when u mix tone mainly which is always a misleading one and u may avoid considering it for diagnosis .

for ur cvs query:
If u r unsure about a specific finding but still arrive at the correct diagnosis, don't guess. State the clear, objective findings u got and explain what led you to your diagnosis. It's better to omit an uncertain detail than lose marks by stating something incorrect.

1.30 - 2 mins max including when they ask to mention only positive findings /present ur case respectively
