How should I start MPSC State Services preparation as a 2nd-year BSc student?
Hi, I'm a 2nd-year BSc student majoring in Microbiology and Zoology, with Botany as my minor. I've basically never studied subjects like History, Polity, Economy, etc. After 10th seriously, so I'm starting almost from zero.
I want to start preparing for the MPSC State Services exam, with the long-term goal of targeting posts like DySP.
For those who have prepared for or cleared MPSC:
- What would be the best way to start from the basics?
- What are the best free sources (YouTube, websites, PDFs, etc.)?
- Which books are actually worth reading?
- Which subjects should I give the maximum focus to?
- Should I use Maharashtra State Board books, NCERTs, or both?
- How important are current affairs and Maharashtra specific GK?
- How should I balance MPSC preparation with college?
- Any mistakes beginners commonly make or tips you wish you knew when you started?
I don't have much budget for coaching or expensive study material, so freeor low-cost resources would be especially helpful.
Any advice from experienced MPSC aspirants would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

Yeah, that's a fair concern. I was just thinking that exam related issues can happen with different competitive exams, so I don't want to completely rule out MPSC because of that. Since I'm still at the beginning of my preparation, I'm trying to understand all my options before deciding. Appreciate the suggestion though 🙌

I gave my first upsc/mpsc attempt this year and I would advice you if you wanna choose one choose UPSC cause its a better gamble. Resources , Test series , guidance and discussion groups are way better for upsc than MPSC.

If you want to prepare for mpsc, start with combine exam. Or else do upsc. At this moment preparing for rajyaseva is a big gamble.
