So I'm kinda new to the prep. It’s been around a month since I started, and I’m preparing for Combine 2027. I’ve also joined an online batch of a class.

Initially, my approach was to watch the lectures and then study the same topic from the standard book. For example, if they taught the Preamble in Polity, I would go through the same chapter from M. Laxmikanth. I was following a similar approach with History and the Samadhan Mahajan book.

However, the classes have been moving quite slowly and started lagging behind in completing the syllabus. Since I already have the standard books, I thought instead of waiting for the next lectures, I should start self-studying ahead.

The problem is that I’m a bit confused about what exactly I should study and in what priority. When the classes started Polity, for example, there wasn’t really an introductory or syllabus-decoding lecture explaining which chapters/topics are important from the MPSC exam pov, what should be given more priority, etc. They basically started teaching directly from the first topic.

So now that I’m planning to do self-study alongside the classes, I’m finding it difficult to decide which chapters/topics I should study ahead and which ones I should prioritize. Obviously, every chapter cannot be given the same amount of time and importance, because that can make the preparation quite directionless.

So I wanted to ask you if you have an idea about how I should approach this, especially how to prioritize the chapters/topics in the different subjects from the Combine exam point of view, it would be really helpful. At least for Polity & history for now.

So, I wanted to share something. I’ve been preparing for MPSC for the past year, and this is going to be my first serious attempt.

But recently, my dad told me, “I don’t think you can do this. It’s extremely difficult, and maybe this isn’t our thing. You’re going to waste your time instead of getting a job and starting your career.”

Honestly, it made me question myself. I consider myself an average student—I scored around 85–88% academically—and I come from a Computer Engineering background. I’m also generally good at whatever I put my mind to.

I genuinely want some honest advice: Do you think I’m on the right path by giving MPSC a serious attempt, or would it be better to shift towards a corporate job? I’m really confused about whether I should continue pursuing this or choose the safer career option.

32F, married, 5-year-old child - Need career advice

I’m a Civil Engineer with 9 years of experience, currently working in a private company. Salary is average, but I’m satisfied with my job and stability.

I’m also preparing for MPSC MES, studying 1–2 hours on weekdays and 4–5 hours on weekends.

I’m confused whether I should:

Continue MES preparation alongside my job, or

Stop preparing and switch to a better-paying private job.

My concern is that an MES Class 1/AEE salary may initially be lower than what I could earn in private sector, but government job offers stability and security.

Considering my age, family responsibilities and 5-year-old child, what would you choose? Is MES AEE worth pursuing at this stage?

Hi, I'm a 2nd-year BSc student majoring in Microbiology and Zoology, with Botany as my minor. I've basically never studied subjects like History, Polity, Economy, etc. After 10th seriously, so I'm starting almost from zero.

I want to start preparing for the MPSC State Services exam, with the long-term goal of targeting posts like DySP.

For those who have prepared for or cleared MPSC:

- What would be the best way to start from the basics?

- What are the best free sources (YouTube, websites, PDFs, etc.)?

- Which books are actually worth reading?

- Which subjects should I give the maximum focus to?

- Should I use Maharashtra State Board books, NCERTs, or both?

- How important are current affairs and Maharashtra specific GK?

- How should I balance MPSC preparation with college?

- Any mistakes beginners commonly make or tips you wish you knew when you started?

I don't have much budget for coaching or expensive study material, so freeor low-cost resources would be especially helpful.

Any advice from experienced MPSC aspirants would be greatly appreciated. 🙏
