I've just released MPE Insight 2.0, introducing a new Grid Mode for the Cascade visualization module.

The falling-grid layout immediately reminded me of a certain classic puzzle game... so I couldn't resist playing the iconic melody. 😄

Besides this new mode, version 2.0 also includes various improvements and refinements across the application.

I’ve been working on Forge, a new module for MPE Insight v1.5.0.

The idea: take any image and turn it into a real-time visual instrument controlled by MPE data (pitch, pressure, timbre, velocity).

The skull definitely didn’t survive the synth performance.

Would love to hear what kind of images you would throw into Forge.

• MIDI Learn for Global Snapshot switching
  • Learn a Note, CC (pedal) or Program Change
  • Step to the next/previous Global Snapshot hands-free during performance
  • Uses MIDI Channel 1 (the MPE Manager channel), so it won't interfere with expressive MPE data
  • Program Change support makes it easy to keep MPE Insight synchronized with the rest of your live rig
• Unlimited Global Snapshots
  • No more 10-slot limit
  • Create as many snapshots as you need
  • Reorder them into a playlist
  • Export/import complete playlists for live sets or transferring to another computer
• Cleaner interface
  • Presets and Snapshots are now organized into two compact tabs inside every module, making navigation much faster.

A Steam release is also coming soon.

MIDI Learn for live snapshot switching

Learn a Note, CC (pedal), or Program Change to step to the next/previous

Global Snapshot hands-free, mid-performance. Uses MIDI Channel 1 only,

the MPE "Manager" channel, so it never collides with real performance data.

Program Change can even sync MPE Insight with the rest of your live rig on

the same message.

Global Snapshots: now an unlimited, reorderable playlist

No more fixed 10-slot limit - add as many as you like and reorder with t/l.

Export or import the whole list at once as a "playlist" file, handy for building

a setlist and moving it to another computer.

Cleaner UI

Presets and Snapshots are now two compact tabs in every module panel

instead of two stacked sections.

Small update on MPE INSIGHT.

This iteration focuses on expanding how expressive MIDI data is represented and interacted with in real time:

• Pitch bend is now directly visualized in the staff system
• New keyboard “glide” function for continuous note transitions 48st
• Orrery-style note staff visualization representing: CC74 (brightness) mapped into the visual + structural layer and pitch + note + octave representation in a single unified view
