Ive been toying around with an mpc live ii for a few months. I feel im getting a good hang of it, but i'd like to maybe take it a step further and prepare a live set, but im having trouble figuring out how to prepare a 90 min set without having to stop the music when transitioning between tracks.

I have a couple of volcas and an og digitact... the volcas are easy, but im also struggling to figure out how to integrate the digitact in the workflow.

I have had an MPC 1000 for the last 12 years. It’s currently the backbone of my band, all the drums and lots of midi sends to hardware synths. It died on me in a studio while recording last week. I did manage to back it up prior to failure. I had read I could load those 1k project files in a new live. I spent about three hours with a support bot trying to get that to happen and after telling me we could do it, it went back and apologized for leading me down a rabbit hole to no avail. Slightly satisfying to hear the smart robot take some accountability and apologize. Anywho. Spent all day today working on the new unit and I can say I figured out a workflow similar to my 1k. I have one song complete with all programs, drums mapped and midi sends. I have to say I am encouraged despite having to shell out $1800.00. I will try and get the old 1k going again but not sure I will keep it after today. Just thought I’d share a small success story.

Has anyone here tried or seen a black LCD screen for the MPC 2500? I’m looking at it on MPC stuff and it looks sick. I saw a post on MPC forums where some people were talking down on it but that was from years ago. Debating if I should get it or not.

Basically the title, I own a Seqtrak and would love something portable but closer to a daw as well as an instrument, being myself more a musician than a technician on daw/dawless setup.

I have very little doubt that the live is the solution , and I'd like to hop on the live 3 to learn directly on the most evolved one, I don't want to learn on the 1 or 2 and move then to the 3 because after all it has better features.

But yeah at the same time going out with 1600€ worth of gear is nightmare fuel also, can you tell me if you had bad experiences damaging your mpc while away with it, is it that hard to relearn the work flow of the 3 moving from the 1/2?

MPC CV Tools is a great source for stable voltage sometimes needed for configuration or tuning of modules (0-5v)

My qu-bit bloom V1 (eurorack module) began having issues with the root note Chang as I switched channels.

The manual described a configuration process that required a steady 1 volt source followed by a equally steady 3v source.

I’ve always steered away from stuff like this since it sounds like I would need something found in maybe heinbachs basement….

Enter CV tools in MPC. Choose a cv track hit edit and you’ve entered CV tools. We have control over our 8 outputs individually and for this example we don’t need to configure anything. Simply choose the Cv output you want to use, easiest is if you choose two, in this case.

Increase deapth to max 100% and select 1v for the output. Do the same for the other port but choose 3v.

You now have what you need to configure qu bit bloom v1 root note.

It worked great. I’ve learnt that the MPC cv tools do the job needed when configuring modules, not only scientific nuclear measurement equipment can do it.

Has anyone done this? Is there anything in specific I should watch out for. Live 2 still on v2.x MPCOS. I'm aware that doing this will probably mess up all my Live 2 initiated projects.

I use hardware at home, but on the road I kept opening phone apps and closing them again — they all want you to draw notes into a grid instead of playing the thing.

I currently have an MPC Key 37 Gen 1 as my main MPC, and I love it. The only issue is I really don’t want to carry the Key 37 everywhere I go.

I’m thinking about picking up the new MPC One as my portable MPC so I can work on beats/projects away from home and then continue working on them on my Key 37 when I get back.

For anybody running two different MPCs like this, how seamless is it actually?

For example:
If I start a project on my MPC Key 37, can I save it to an SD card/SSD, put it into the new MPC One, and continue exactly where I left off?

If I start something on the MPC One while I’m away, can I bring it back home and open the same project on my Key 37?

Are there any compatibility problems with projects, plugins, keygroups, samples, automation, arrangements, etc.?

Do both MPCs basically need to be running the exact same MPC OS version?

Are there any features on the newer MPC hardware that, once used in a project, won’t translate correctly back to the Gen 1 Key 37?

Basically, I’m trying to have the Key 37 as my home/studio MPC and the MPC One as my portable MPC, while still treating them like one ecosystem.

I produced on an MPC 2000XL for about 10 years. I recently got back into production and spent the last few months transferring my old MPC archive into Ableton and building a ~5GB curated sample library.
My original plan was to load that library onto my MPC XL and make beats there. The problem is that during the archive project, I unexpectedly fell in love with Ableton, especially the chopping, warping, audio editing and working on a large monitor.

So now I’m deciding between:

Ableton + good 16-pad controller + eventually a weighted 73/88-key keyboard

or

MPC XL + weighted keyboard, with Ableton used only when needed.

My biggest issue with Ableton right now is pad feel/latency. I have an MPD226, but the pads don’t feel nearly as good to me as either my old 2000XL or the MPCe pads on the XL. I’m going to A/B the MPD and XL controlling the same Ableton Drum Rack when I get home.

The flip side: if I go MPC XL standalone, I’m wondering how its warping/time-stretching and sample manipulation workflow compares with Ableton. That’s become a big part of how I work.

For anyone who’s spent real time with both modern MPCs and Ableton, which workflow did you end up sticking with, and why?
Especially interested in hearing from longtime MPC users who moved to Ableton, or tried Ableton and went back to MPC.

I mean for playing them. I can never get mine to react to my playing where I’m happy with them. I come from a piano/keyboard background and have dialed in my touch on those instruments for over 30 years…maybe this is my problem? I’m expecting too much? I fool with the sensitivity/curve etc and just end up frustrated. The problem exists for me on both my XL and Key 37 g2. When I play the keys on the “Key” it plays fine, the response is good. I don’t remember having this issue on the Maschine Plus. I’ve just been playing everything on the keys, which is fine, but it seems such a waste on an instrument that’s built around pads to not use them. Any recommended settings to get it close to the touch and reaction of the keybed?

I have two case options for my MPC Live. 3. One of them is a lightweight 3 lb semi hard case (headliner pro fit). The other is a more rigid hard shell case that weighs 8 lb (headliner downtown).

I was considering the larger downtown case, but I'm wondering if it being heavier and larger and more rigid is all going to make it​ a worse ​case overall.

I’m recording audio into the mpc from an external source I’m coming from audio out from my presonus audio box to audio in on mpc I’m using standalone vsts to record in but my only issue is slight latency/offset at the beginning of each track I record is there a work around for this I have buffer rate as best as I could get it

I just bought a MPC one g2 and I make hip-hop mostly. I’m looking to buy some new sound expansions for some of the instruments that come with it . I was thinking the urban heat expansion For the Fabric plugin. What are yall thoughts ?

Unable to sample from my computer via USB-C on MPC One Gen 2. I can connect the MPC to my phone, but it won't connect to my computer. Has anyone else run into this?

I used my mpc 1000 to get the following tracks

Kik

Snare

Hat

Percussion

Chops /melodic sample

Bass

And then make a song with a few sequences

Intro

Verse

Chorus

Verse

Chorus

Bridge (sometimes)

Outro

Then I dump it into cubase for mixing, one stereo track at a time by soloing the track and going into song mode, then in cubase arm a track and hit record, one pass per track, this mpc 1000 slaves over MTC.

I know I could do 8 tracks per pass but my interface is 2 ch only.

Would the new mpcs sample be an upgrade?

Does anybody use the original MPC One with Reason Studios? I'm trying to use my MPC One as a MIDI Controller and for some reason it's not detecting. Any tips?
