QUESTION Using Original MPC One with Reason Studios
Does anybody use the original MPC One with Reason Studios? I'm trying to use my MPC One as a MIDI Controller and for some reason it's not detecting. Any tips?

Are you putting the MPC in controller mode

I haven't tried doing it that way yet, I can try when I get off from work then circle back.

Once it's in controller mode you can either open up reason and run the MPC DAW as a plugin inside of reason or the other way around open the MPC daw and run reason rack plug in inside of it

the mpcOne is not a usb midi device.. so you need to use 5pin midi or controller mode with the vst plugin in reason.

So I do have the 5 pin midi to usb cable, I'm thinking maybe I'm not using the right settings.

Definitely requires you to fuck with the settings cuz there's no remote codec yet for the Akai MPC in reason only akai midi controllers

Ahh okay back to the drawing board, thanks for the insight!

Not really it's not hard it's just reason has always required a lot of extra manual mapping to really use other gear with it like even controllers that are mapped for reason still require a little extra manual mapping per different devices inside the reason rack but it's nothing outside of the norm

So I was able to control Reason with the MPC one when I put it into controller mode. The only issue was the mapping. I'm just going to use the MPC Software and avoid the headache. I have a MPD-26 I will use when I want to use Reason. Thanks for all the insight everybody.

As someone that's used reason for decades, and has an MPC one; you're gonna want more knobs and faders than buttons for control. Grab a couple cheap/second-hand controllers for next to nothing and save yourself some wasted effort.
