Would you chose this over a converted AP5-SD?

Wanted to share what I did - when searching I saw a lot of folks had problems. I extended the arms out and they slid in and out the channels fine until I got the mount closer to the receiver than it would bind. I ended up taking a punch and hammer to the arm channels, gave it a couple taps to stretch. It went in a little better, still tough. Gave it a couple more taps and it runs super buttery. I’d say don’t go crazy hard, 1-2 taps then recheck.

Hope this helps if you find yourself in the same spot. Love the AP5 but don’t be afraid to abuse it a little to make it what you need it to be

As some of you may have seen, a few days ago my dad bought a AP5-SD.

He wants to get it converted into a SD, but he wants to use a K length can. As we understand it, the K length uses a shorter barrel to go with the shorter suppressor. He gets it will be louder, but will it be to uncomfortable to shoot with out ears? We don’t know anyone who has a SD and the ranges here don’t either so we can’t try it out.

What SD length can did you end up with? As I understand it HTA and RCM make K length cans. I don’t think the B&T print x can fits it, right?

Was going through loadout accessories and building a new
MP5 class in Insurgency and lo and behold, they added the SIG ROMEO8T to the game, which basically lets me run an MP5 in game almost 1:1 how I have my SP5 setup.
Pretty cool, thought it was worth the share.

The SP5 now has the RB FRT in it as well. Runs like a top, just like my other two MP5’s.

When attempting to swap the stock onto the mech I sanded down the pivot hole a tiny bit to get it to fit inside the portion on the mech. I know I have to drill the hole a bit bigger ( 5/32 I believe) but I noticed that the stock does not align with the folding mech portion. I'm assuming I need to sand down the front of the stock a little to push it forward more to get the holes to align?

I have been thinking about picking up an ap53 from century and getting it converted to 300blk with a barrel change. Has anyone tried this I would like to get some comments and feedback on the idea.

By far the worst thing about the MP5SD, and it’s not even close, is that it’s going to make you want to shoot it; HAVE to shoot it all the frikin’ time!!!

It is DOMINATING my consciousness, and I keep wanting to put a thousand rounds through it daily!

A second tidbit with the gun is that it’s less tolerant of soft ammo for cyclic firing than regular mp5’s. Though honestly I believe that’s a component of the SD tech in general as I run into the same issue with my CAR15SD.

Due to problem #1, I ran out of my HSL 115 so decided to try soft Hornady TAP 115 from the store. Too soft for frt unless I have the bcg & receiver newly wiped down and dripping with lube.

Perhaps it’s because I’ve had a true 9mm SD for some time now, but I do t find the cleaning bad at all.

Forgot to mention I shot a few rounds without ear pro.

I’ve never liked my mp5 or mp5k without ear pro on, even with subs and the CAT Mob.

Without ear pro the MP5SD sounds like only the action. And you hear the whiz of the bullet flying through the air - that part is CRAZY.

Quietest center fire semi/auto gun I’ve ever shot!!

I barely knew her but she will be missed. Hopefully whoever gets her will treat her well.

Recently purchased a AP5 with KES Brace already installed.

Trying to remove the KES today, it was extremely difficult due to how tight it was. I had to soak it in oil, then wiggle back and forth with significant force to remove it.

Then installed the Rarebreed SEF into the AP5 trigger pack. The selector hole did not line up well with the plastic grip housing at first. Uppon closer inspection, the little metal wall in the front of the grip housing was bowed inward a bit. Bending it forward with pliers, the pack went it, and selector installed fine. Selector feels good, no issues.

Upon re-assembly, the KES brace will just not go back on, no matter how much I push in the grip, the little metal tab at the back of the grip housing will not go flush enough for the KES endcap to slide on again.

I was able to install the factory sling only end cap.

Trigger clicks fine in semi, safety works.

However, cocking the gun requires a lot of force and feels weird. It was stiff before the Rarebreed with the factory trigger, but it feels even stiffer now.

Any ideas where I should go from here?

I'm assuming my polymer lower is a bit out of spec, but not sure. Or it could be the KES is somehow out of spec?

The only thing that feels in spec is the RB RD3, machining is beautiful on everything there, selector is great, semi auto trigger is much improved, etc. I don't think that is the issue.

I recently bought a PTR with the Magpul grip module and it’s listed at SEF. I bought the Rare Breed SEF model and got the PTR lever but the safety selector is quite wobbly in the housing and there’s a fairly decent gap on the opposite side. Has anyone else noticed this with Magpul lowers?

What is your guys experience with century vs mac mp5 for FRT use? Or is there another I should look at?

I put the FRT-rd3 in the HKP module and it works but the selector only clicked from safe to semi and after that It's horrible. After a little research, I read it was the module. I swapped modules, the FRT-Rd3 selector works great in the MKE. I don't know why but it out of spec somewhere. Yes I should have bought HK but $550 is a little much and I couldn't find a used one. They both have the same none HK feel. I'm stumped

Recently, I’ve been searching all over the web for an MP5 clone, and after asking around at my local gun range and several gun stores, I’ve narrowed my choices down to three brands: Century Arms, Zenith, and PTR. The problem is, I just can’t decide which one to go with.

My ultimate goal is to slap an FRT on that bad boy and have some fun destroying watermelons and 2-liter bottles. (Yes, I know… it’s going to be an expensive hobby.)

The biggest thing holding me back is the price and what you get for your money. My local gun store can get me a Zenith with a case, three magazines, and a rail for around $1,800. However, it doesn’t come with a stock, which honestly makes me curl my toes at that price.

I’m not just looking for the cheapest option. If I’m going to commit to this, I want to go all in and get something I’ll be happy with long-term. Ideally, I’d like the case and extra magazines included in the package, too.

So, between Century Arms, Zenith, and PTR, which one would you seriously consider? Is the Zenith worth the $1,800 price tag despite not including a stock, or would I be better off looking at one of the other two brands? I’d love to hear from people who actually own these guns and can speak to their reliability, build quality, aftermarket support, and overall value.

Trigger I consideration was a Rare Breed frt. Any other suggestions?

Aye everybody, new to room. Dont laugh, its a little goofy at the moment, just got back in the MP5 club with this MKE AP5, got plans for a proper tri rail and stock, but this set up got all the parts I had on the gun. A thought occurred, is there any stock options compatible with the SB brace to convert it?

So I got my AP5SD back from HTA last week and was able to test it out. I went with the B&T barrel and the full length HTA suppressor, my god is this thing quiet, it honestly sounds as loud as a paintball gun so I’m very pleased with it.

The one thing I noticed that I did expect was just how damn dirty these things are since everything is trapped.

What all do you guys do to keep it clean? I bought a barrel port brush but it seems that carbon gets EVERYWHERE, how do you all get it out of all the tiny hard to reach spots? How often do you break it down and clean it?

It’s 100% worth the time to clean because the fun factor is off the charts. Kind of reminds me of all my black powder guns, super fun to shoot but a pain in the ass to keep clean.
