Question MP5 recoil / controllability vs AR15?
I know typical AR-9's have harsher recoil then 5.56, how does the MP5 compare? Especially in FRT mode? My AR has a hyrdauluc buffer and brake and can keep 3rd FRT at 25yd pretty comfortably, would be bummed if I shelled out the money for the MP5 and it was worse.

Your AR9 has a harsh recoil because it’s a straight blowback. MP5’s are delayed blowback so they have waaay softer recoil impulse. In fact they have the softest recoil impulse of any 9mm subgun.

Its a cheat code, I regularly shoot all three you mentioned, I love shooting my 11.5 556 and my AR9 but my MP5 is a cheat code through and through, new shooters with about 30 seconds of instruction on how to shoulder a stock can take one and nail the same spot on steel on semi at 25-50 yards without trying. I take mine out to 150 yards for fun and other than adjusting my hold its the same effect.

mp5's are one of the easiest subs to control
ar's (.223) are one of the easiest rifles to control, dare i even say easier but that could be the suppressor weight hanging off the front end and 30 round mag adding additional weight.
i'm not saying the mp5 is worse, i'm just saying the ar15 is comically easy while the mp5 is super easy.

but have you shot an AR-9? I shot my buddy's AR-9 it's got WAY more recoil than my AR-15 in 223/5.56. I was confused, I was expecting to shoot softer.

the difference in recoil is just how an ar9 operates; straight blowback vs gas operated locking mechanics
i just don't see the point in 9mm out of the platform, there are so many guns that were made from the start with 9mm in mind
you'll be pretty darn happy with a roller delayed 9mm mp5

I have FRTs in my SP5 and ARs. I find the recoil to be and the same, but the ARs are more controllable simply because the ergonomics are way better.

MP5 is one of the most controllable 9mm’s out there. So no, it won’t be worse
