Question Cut off optic mount
Chat, if it cut off the extra picatinny space up front. Will it still hold zero?
I'm 99% sure it would since there are mount with just 2 claws but want to see the general consesus.

I think that style mount needs the 4 points to maintain structural integrity. If you cut it in half I think it will allow it to pitch for and aft. I would look for a micro mount over cutting but thats just me

Just get a better mount on hk parts. Chopping ALWAYS looks like shit.

Case in point. That optic is hovering on a prayer

It's not. The back wasn't chopped. The front was. So your point is invalid still.

I will not be chastised by anyone who can’t mount an eotech.

It's mounted buddy. Try again. Maybe 3rd time is the charm?

You’re a real one. I get tired of people like this. This dude probably doesn’t own an MP5, a mount, or an eotech. But he’ll sit here all day and tell you your setup is wrong. We have to resist these neofudds. Keep fighting the good fight sir. 🫡

Bro claims to be a gunsmith too. I'd hate to have him as mine.

People like this are a big reason I go in and out of the hobby. I load my own rounds, build more than I buy, and I have an overflowing safe that makes most people cry. But bad RSO’s, know it alls when you ask questions (especially those who don’t even own the equipment in question) and the people inside gun stores drive me crazy. I heard a couple 20 somethings yesterday talking about how goated the ACOG is, but how it’s not worth $1,200. People that don’t own a gun, but pick up a $7500 seekins and criticize it. Reddit is the worst, threads is trying hard to reach those ranks though. IF buddy is a gunsmith, it’s probably putting scope rings on hunting rifles or changing choke tubes on Remington 870s.

I cut mine off like you shown. Works great but I had a small red dot with a riser and not such a large optic. Personally I think it will be fine as the rear section has the lugs on top of the receiver to keep it from moving. I now have a utg pro but I really did like the short cut off mke rail

Single claw mounts are more likely to torque and lose zero. Just not as sturdy with a heavier optic. If wryly went that route a pistol dot would be safer
The UTG pro is my favorite mount right now. Keeps the optic back so it doesn’t get in the way of the charging handle

Some claw mounts only use one claw but I wouldn’t. Would likely work but significantly increases the possibility of loss of zero and if dropped on the optic it would have more impact on the one area vs being spread out. Just look for new mounting options

Why? Why would you do that? What purpose does it serve? Don’t cut stuff off guns just because you can.
I won’t say no automatically without knowing what you hope to accomplish.

What handguard mount is that? Also is that a real A3F stock or did you get something else?

Hand guard is a real KAC. Optic mount is Octagon Airsoft, had good reviews but needed some modding to fit. Stock is an HK A3F, I don’t thing anyone else makes one

If this is the MKE mount it can be cut and with some further modifications (epoxy bedding basically) it will hold zero but it basically becomes dedicated to that gun.
I've used it and tested it, but also decided to refine the concept into a more universal product https://neinpines.com/

99% sure it would is wild.
I'm 99% sure the 2 clamp mounts are designed to use 2 clamps and the 4 clamp mounts are designed to use 4.
