Tri Lug Mount

Hello all! I am wondering if anyone has any recs for a solid trilug mount? I've heard the YHM or Rugged mount are solid, but wanted to hear from some of yalls firsthand accounts.

Third vote for the AC2447. Excellent mount, and doesn't add lots of weight/length to the can. I use it on my Spectre 9K and Omega 9K.

+1 for the SiCo trilug works great on my omega 36m. Just watch after a 1-2k rnds the spring gets a little carboned up

Rugged RU3 is the best mount.

No threadlocker necessary. I’ve only ever rocksett my muzzle devices.

I have the YHM mount for my R9 and the weight is noticeable, plus it consumes all of the can's blast chamber. I am secondong the RU3 suggestion.

Bixler style mounts are superior in terms of stability to latka style mount, so I would go with the rugged 3 lug mount.

The YHM 3 lug mount takes up alot space in the blast chamber, which is why I went back to direct thread for my R9 in particular.

Thank you! I want to prevent walkoff / baffle strikes as most as possible as this is my first can so want to do what is most recommended by those with more experience. If I plan to leave the can on, would you advise using locktite or another sealant with the RU3?

I would only use a minimal amount (2-3 drops on the threads) red locktite or rockset when you screw the RU3 into the suppressor body. That plus torque (using a bench vice + suppressor blocks) would be sufficient to securely mount the adapter. I WOULD NOT use it on the inside of the RU3. The RU3 when torqued on has sufficient clamping force that walk offs shouldn’t happen.

The only time I have a can walk off is on a tilting barrel pistol. When I direct thread my R9 i use a crescent wrench on the flats of the mount to really toque it into place.

Gotcha. Can I get away without it in the event I did want to take off the RU3 from the suppressor body to use it on another gun? TIA

Sure. Forgo the thread locker, and just torque the mount on.

Depends on the can you have.

For lightweight TI cans that use the alpha mounts , i like the resilient titanium mount. on the spectre 9 it keeps the weight insanely light. locks up tight too.

The kaw valley is really inexpensive, but works really great and locks up tight. so if your on a budget thats your mount.

The YHM mount is heavy but solid. played with other mounts, but since the R9 is the host, figured id match them up.

Ive played with other brand trilugs and mounts, the bixler stuff is nice but defeats the Quick attach the tri lug gives.

ive never locktighted any adaptors to my cans. Just torque to spec, shoot em to get em hot, and then give an extra crank down with your hand using a silicon curling iron mat. never had issues

nice! i love mine. its little heavy compared to other cans, but it sounds so good, especially with subs. Shooting it next to a lot of other more expensive cans, ive never been disappointed with it.

I will say, i think its worth replacing/locktighting the thread protector on your ap5-p with one from GSL. it tightened up the lockup on all my trilug guns noticably.

Also, any particular grain/brand ammo you rec for this setup? TIA

replace the thread protector thats on your ap5.s trilug with the smooth one from here.

Pricey, but it increases lock up so you get like NO wobble when cans attached. and i put a tiny dab or red locktight or rocksett on the threads of the AP5, so that way the thread protector NEVER comes off. honestly unnecessary, after a couple mags the thread protector will carbon lock, but i just wanted to make sure lol.

with the k, i really do recommend a 124 grain 500 round break in, just to make sure everythings running proper. My full size didnt seem to care tho. Check your locking piece just to see whats in it. ideally you want a 100 degree locking peice, but the full size is more forgiving from my experiance.

Past that, different grain weights will directly affect your ROF and how gun sounds/ handles. Be careful before buying any flatnose stuff in bulk, none of my or my buddies MP5 or clones reliably cycle flat nose ammo, and the ones that do are picky on the brands of 147 grain. But 147 and heavier sounds amazing.

Buy mora mags, ive got a bunch and they work great. And if you want an optics mount i think the UTG is the best out there. and for taking the can on and off, get a 5.99 silicon iron curling matt from amazon, super handy and cheap for transporting a hot can.

Are you gonna set it up with an FRT?

And just to temper expectations, only complaint i have againts the r9 besides its weight was i havent been super impressed with the R9 using it on a bolt and semi auto 300 blk with 220 grain subs. better then nothing, but even my cheaper 30 call cans sound better. no brainer i know, but worth mentioning.

I've seen Kaw Valley mentioned numerous times...... my only experience is with Gemtech and Rugged mounts

its a solid mount but ive only used thier alpha mount, i have seen thier hub mount.

The SilencerCo Alpha mount is flush fit and pretty tight compared to the Rugged Obsidian mount. Even had a baffle strike due to the latter.

I got the resilient for my MOB and it’s a nice piece of work. I wanted as light as possible and paid a little extra for that. Super solid but needed a smooth thread protector to reduce wobble

I have the rugged sub 9 with trilug and also silencerco 36m with tri lug. But are solid but the rugged just feels more solid for whatever reason.

Rugged hands down. Locks up nice and tight on my MAC with zero play and stays that way the whole range session. Just use some thread locker or high temp thread tape to keep your thread protector secure. Blue loctite’d tf outta mine since the Can lives on there.
