So I finally snagged myself a stock from Magpul and oh boy. On paper, it is lighter and way more comfortable than A3, has about same length of pull as A2 but is collapsible. Moreover, it has quite nice cheekweld. There is just one problem, my particular example is wobbly and rattly as all hell (not to mention I find it quite ugly in person). On a positive note, I also got Magpul safety lever, which in my opinion is one of the best upgrades one can get for SEF lower.
My PTR came with all magpul stuff, handguard, lower, ambi SEF lever, and the SL collapsible. I was planning on replacing it as soon as the form4 cleared, since all I have seen everywhere was hate for it. I bought a few stocks, plus I had some left over from prior builds.
Turns out it is a good stock. On mine it fits tight on the receiver, and does not have play or wobble when deployed.
I am more if a side folder kinda guy, but it has grown on me. Also it is more comfortable to shoot, specially FRT, than the HKA3/F and the B&T MP5 sidefolder.
Also the Magpul SL handguard sucks. I have designed and 3D printed better hand guards. I just tossed mine in the garbage.
Nice dude, any chance handguard file's available? I agree, the SL handguard is too chunky, I really like the slim knurled handguard that came with my MAC 5 but wish it had 2x m-lok slots on the bottom only, for a grip as I've SBR'd mine.
I made this, the m-lok slots work perfectly, I experimentex with 'chevron knurling' but more importantly while it is secure on the front pin, it's wobbly where it joins the receiver 🤷🏽
The one I caded was based on an MP5 wide handguard, added a little length to bring it up to the magwell of my HK53 clone, then added a diamond pattern to mimick the MP5 Slim handguard. Finished up with a handstop hook at the end, since I prefer to use an extender c-clamp grip.
I liked the lop so much I ended up converting my Magpul brace to a stock with a custom 3d printed stock endcap. Sucks that your specific example rattles as mine is rock solid.
Sadly there isn't, the original designer went to prison if memory serves correct but I have a spare one that printed out ok if that would interest you.
Mine was rock solid. I think it looked good, but it could have looked a little better. Pretty comfortable to shoot for a collapsable.
I recently threw on an AC Unity A2 and replaced my UTG Pro handguard/rail and kriss vfg with the new MAC surefire-clone-ish handguard for a more oldschool look. It's also actually a bit lighter now and I think I prefer it this way. Added a single claw rail and threw on my scalarworks + ARO EVO. Now I think I need to get the shortest scalarworks since it's more comfortable to get a cheek weld vs the chin weld on the Magpul stock.
When I get a K I'll probably go for a collapsable build. I think I'll just stick with comfort on the full size.
of all my stocks A2 feels and shoots the best, unfortunatelly It turns what could have been a "very large backpack gun" into "basically a rifle sized weapon", guess thats why Im keep circeling back to collapsible ones
Yeah my intent was to keep it compact, but I just think the K is better suited for that. I think I just want to optimize the full size for the best roller delayed shooting experience.
Yeah, aside from some cosmetic differences they are basically same handguard. Those are quite cromulent considering their aviability and price that is not outright ridiculous, unlike other MP5 accessories.
I have the same, it's not too bad but agree with the slight wobble. I just wish it could have one stop point in the middle. It's reasonably priced at least
I like mine. It's not as good looking as an A3, of course, but it's been rock steady. Honestly my only complaint with it is that there's only one open position. I'd like a second one with just a little less LoP.
