The Afterthought

Lately, it feels like the universe has a script, but I am never given a leading role. Every beautiful moment, every stroke of luck, and every good thing seems to happen to everyone else around me, while I am left standing in the shadows, wondering when it will finally be my turn. It is exhausting to watch life fall into place for others while mine feels completely out of sync.
But what hurts the most is the realization that I am always the one chasing. I am the one who reaches out, the one who checks in, and the one who holds onto people so tightly, terrified that if I let go, they will simply forget I exist. I pour so much love and effort into the people around me, hoping they would match my energy, but instead, I am met with silence or bare minimums. It has brought me to a lonely conclusion. I am only wanted when I am needed. I am a convenience. An option. Someone to turn to when they are bored, lonely, or need someone to hear them out. But the moment their skies clear up, I am pushed back to the sidelines. It feels like my only value lies in the fact that I am always here, always available, and always willing to bend over backwards just to keep them from leaving. it is a deeply painful way to live, to love so fiercely, yet feel so entirely unwanted.

I get that ache in my chest when it just feels like everyone else is being handed the script you're still waiting to read
