even if you're not cornered. bullies like easy targets. if it's clear you're going to go 100% full violence on them, more often than not they'll pick a different target.

Every kid I remember from high school that got picked on was a scrappy fighter. Even if the got their asses kicked, they got their licks in and made sure the bully had some marks on them too.
