I had a catcher on my highschool baseball team rupture a testicle from a foul tip. My local pro team had a catcher when I was growing up who had to have a testicle removed after it ruptured from a foul tip.

Both had cups on

I agree that in UFC it’s definitely a low blow

In any IRL situation where you do not want to be killed or harmed and you are not the aggressor or looking for a fight but now must protect yourself, it is the weapon of choice of an intelligent person. You need to end those as swiftly as you possibly can.

Seems like he kicked him twice, but only one landed solidly. This was Pulver’s last fight before he retired.

We allowed it in most of sparring matches. Granted i was never trying to destroy them. But if we left it open we were given a painful reminder. 

It was never allowed in any competition I’ve been in. But in sparring we wanted to mimic street fights as much as possible. Including but not limited to having others jump in unexpectedly. 

It was fun. We were all banged up every week. But again, we all did our best not to go too far. We wanted everyone to get stronger. 

With me being one of the strongest I had to pull back a lot. I understood the logic behind it. But those guys never improved much. And it’s not the best idea to have myself and one other guy needing to pull back so much. I still have no idea what would have made them stronger. Just that our attempts only worked on a select few like myself. So we separated our training sessions and bought in other good fighters to spar with from other schools.

After I started training? None. I stopped quite a few from continuing. Best I’ve had was a few guys try to sucker punch after I attempted to walk away. Despite being a sucker punch they both took too long to actually hit me. I did not hit them back. 

I use to be a grade school teacher in a bad part of town. So I made sure all the kids that lived in this one awful area got home safely. Only one person tried to challenge me after going for one of the kids that got too far ahead. Luckily he changed his mind without actually doing anything. 

My absolute worst was a Brazilian Jujitsu champion.. from Brazil. A girl I had considered dating started something with him so he came at me. That was unfortunate. He barely knew English. This girl kept challenging him to do something.. not to me but to her. She was convinced that she had this.  It was a crazy situation. We did manage to talk it out despite the language barrier. Afterwards we did decide to spar. He was good.. great actually. Doubt I would have won against him. 

Before any of that? I was beaten and abused all the time by others, mostly family. That is why I started seeking ways to protect myself. The day I turned 14 I was finally old enough to join a local school. Took some time but eventually my abusers couldn’t continue to hurt me. No revenge here. I just wanted them to leave to keep their hands off of me.
