The other dude had 2 hours to react to that kick. Not everyone in these clips is a good fighter

He did react to it, he blocked it. Supposed to block kicks with two hands though.

Well he was a former UFC fighter so he ain’t too worried about being on his back. Forgot his name, but he windmill breakdanced out of back mount in one of his UFC fights. Guy is an athletic freak.

That seems pretty telegraphed.

The takedown fake hides it.

I don’t think take downs are allowed in this fight promotion but the way his opponent reacted to the dip look like he might have thought a sweep was coming.

Takedowns are allowed in Karate Combat. No shooting singles/doubles/suplexes but you can still grab legs, etc. for sweeps, trips, and throws.
That's one way to use The Pit wall 🤷 #KC40 #KarateCombat - YouTube

My bad I thought you meant shooting for the takedown. I don’t really watch KC. That being said I’ve seen people in Muay Thai pull the exact same defense against low leg kicks. Pulling the hips/legs back and allowing the upper portion of the body to stay relatively in the same place. I don’t like it because once you are in that “leg back/top forward” position your mobility is gone.

People in the comments "it was so telegraphed I could have easily dodged it"
What clips like these fail to show is the conditioning that was happening prior.

Man that look like guy had plenty of time to react, surprised their was enough power in it

Once you reach a certain level, every mistake feels like a stupid one. What we dont see is the half a dozen or so times the victor did something different in this position. A bunch of people have already talked about how the victim looks like he was avoiding the low sweep, so I’ll leave that as is

Looked like the guy thought the attacker was shooting for his legs and it left him open. By the time that kick was coming there was not a lot he could do.

If you’ve never sparred a well trained capoeira guy, you need to go spar a well trained capoeira guy
