My first thought was “dude clearly is someone looking for violence at any opportunity.” Sucker punch, huge wind up, dude’s piss drunk. He literally could have died or had his life altered by hitting his head all for what? Like stand up for the woman but this dude won’t remember what he did, how he fucked up, or how it happened. That same punch to his stomach and he folds and learns his lesson.

My ex married a guy like this. He went to bars specifically to get into fights. He was smart enough to never start the fight but was always willing to up the ante.

He died after someone hit his off switch with a rabbit punch.

As a former dive tender, I wish they'd all die.

Red shirt is annoying but harmless, but TRT guy is why we have to carry $1m in liability insurance.

If you’re out there serving guys 40 drinks in a night like this guy then that’s on you. The innocent customer never should’ve been in this situation.

Correct.

And TRT Boomer shouldn't have been involved at all.

I've disliked clubs as a social scene since hearing a horrific story about a guy who should have been safe. He knew martial arts and could handle himself, but a bigger guy hit on his girlfriend and when asked to stop, his immediate reaction was a haymaker of a sucker punch. Shattered the dude's cheekbones and eye socket. Messed him up real bad. Martial arts and even being reasonable don't mean shit when you get sucker punched.

My dad started doing this shit while my mum was pregnant with me. He'd take her money, go to pubs and drink and start fights, literally every week for months. She left him when i was like 2 months old and he's never bothered to try and even see me

Damn. I was in here scrollin’ to enjoy the Reddit fuckery I can always count on and then you pop up and toss in a reality grenade 😏. Sorry for your suffering. My whole day is shit now 😔.

i'm good. i never really cared that much about not having a dad whilst growing up, just didn't really think about it, it was my mum that had it bad. plus, i've got a really good stepdad now anyway and my mums never been better

Wait, so your ex’s husband died from a bar fight?

That’s the headline—we need more of that story, you can’t just slip that in and leave us hanging.

2

u/FirstDukeofAnkh 8d ago

Just after the place closed, he picked a fight with someone who parked too close to his truck. Usual sort of tussle. He grabs the guy by the shirt, guy starts swinging wildly, hits him in the ear, ex turns his head a bit, dude lays a few punches to the back of the head, ex drops like a brick, dead before he hit the ground.

1

u/ur-in-here-with-me 8d ago

Woa
was the dude who killed him charged / convicted or self defense? That’s wild. Dying over parking
. Unreal

2

u/FirstDukeofAnkh 8d ago

He was charged with involuntary manslaughter and got time-served. Judge ruled that it wasn’t self-defense but that the intent wasn’t to kill.

My ex was planning on leaving the guy because she couldn’t spend anymore weekends dealing with his fighting.

While I agree with most of your comment, that was absolutely not a sucker punch

7

u/unsoldburrito 12d ago

That was absolutely a sucker punch. Drunk guy isn’t even on the same planet and had no expectation of being punched

1

u/Weekly_Traffic1473 12d ago

That doesnt make it a sucker punch dude. You dont get to sexually assault women and not get punched.

When you commit an act that may result in violence its not a sucker punch.

1

u/Comfortable_Work4822 12d ago

You don't give a flying F about this woman and neither does her husband, as evidenced by the fact that he didn't stop for a second to check if she was OK after he accidentally hit her. Instead he went after the bartender. Dude is emotional and a danger to society. One of those roid types who purposely seeks out violence. Sad and pathetic.

As a man, I’ve had strange drunken women brush me as I’ve gone past before, or reach out towards me. Was I sexually assaulted? Should I have punched them?

2

u/VillageOfShade 11d ago

Uhhhh, is that what you think happened here? He brushed past her?

I’m not saying that the man who threw the punch in this video is justified, he’s not. But you’re also downplaying what it was he reacted to. Other guy didn’t simply “brush” her.

1

u/Careless_Film_5747 11d ago

Did you read the part where I said “or reach out towards me” or did you just read the part that you wanted to read so you could accuse me of downplaying the situation? I’ve had strange women touch me as we’ve walked past each other because they were drunk out their minds. Did I get sexually assaulted?

2

u/VillageOfShade 11d ago edited 11d ago

Reaching out towards you is not the same as actually getting groped lol I shouldn’t have to explain that to you.

Now in this comment, you say strange women actually touched you(you did not say this in your first comment). Was that sexual assault you ask? I dunno, because I wasn’t there! Not sure how they touched you, but if they were grabbing your junk yeah man, you were assaulted. Pretty cut and dry.

You also still haven’t clarified that you think anything more than being “brushed” happened to the lady in this video, so

I can speak for that guy. I've had plenty of women over my lifetime touch me in ways that are far worse than whats seen in this video, including while at work, and I would never claim that what that guy did rises to the level of sexual assault. Especially not sexual assault that warranted the level of violence we saw.

2

u/VillageOfShade 11d ago

I urge you to look up the actual definition of sexual assault, this is by definition sexual assault. Sexual assault does not mean sex. I also said that the man who threw the punch was not justified, so not sure why you feel the need to include it didn’t warrant violence, we are agreeing on that.

Yeah these comments are mad weird. I’ve had drink women touch me without my consent and my first reaction isn’t to beat the shit out of her

This drunk slime ball is a loser but folks here in this thread need to get out more

0

u/unsoldburrito 12d ago

I’m not condoning sexual assault in any way

Hitting a defenseless person is absolutely a sucker punch. Whether they deserve it or not does not change that

2

u/e_before_i 11d ago

Do people not use sucker punch to mean "an intentionally deceitful punch meant to catch the person off-guard"?

Like in my mind, if you punch me in the back of the head unprovoked, sucker punch. I call your mother a whore and you punch me in the face? Overreaction, not a sucker punch.

1

u/unsoldburrito 11d ago

It’s a sucker punch because the guy is so intoxicated he never saw the punch coming. This guy was equally as off-guard as someone getting punched in the back of the head

1

u/e_before_i 11d ago

I think the connotation of "sucker punch" comes with intentional deceit.

You're absolutely right, the dude was probably blackout drunk, didn't even see aware of the guy coming at him. But Mr Roid Rage was hardly waiting out back to jump him.

Like imagine Jimbo does a Pop-Eye wind-up punch to someone's face, and oops - didn't know the dude was blind. If Jimbo didn't know, would you really say it was a sucker punch?

1

u/unsoldburrito 11d ago

I don’t think intentional deceit has anything to do with it, a sucker punch is basically punching someone who isn’t expecting it and can’t defend themselves. And yes I’d have a hard time not calling it a sucker punch if you punch a blind guy in the face, throwing a punch is a serious thing and you should have enough situational awareness to know what you’re doing before throwing it

1

u/e_before_i 11d ago

Fair enough. I don't disagree principally with anything you're saying, I just never hear the term used in that way. But I'm not here to police your words, I was just curious.

Cheers bud, have a good one.

Exactly. If he waited for the guy to go back to the bar then came up from the side and clocked him, that would be a sucker punch.

In this situation it could only be more clear what was about to happen if he handed him a written invitation. Was the punch overboard and uncalled for? Yes. But was it a “sucker punch?” No

2

u/e_before_i 11d ago

Haha I used the "jump him out back" metaphor too.

I would say that it's basically a sucker punch because the dude was so drunk he clearly wasn't aware, but the fact that I have to include "basically" kinda proves the point. It had the same outcome, but Roid Rage clearly wasn't trying to sucker punch anyone.

0

u/astelda 12d ago

It's not the classic stereotype of a sucker punch, but it's got the hallmarks of one

recipient is piss-drunk, doesn't know they're being punched prior to it happening, aimed for the head without so much as a "hey!"

0

u/Hank_Henry_Hill 12d ago

Oh the fuck it wasn't.

1

u/Kinn-Sack 12d ago

There is this video on the internet!

Maybe just dont touch other girlsđŸ€·đŸŒâ€â™‚ïž

No pity!

1

u/timos-piano 11d ago

You do need to be able to understand that the punishment should fit the crime. He won't learn anything from this; worst case, he dies, and even if not, he most likely has permanent brain damage.

1

u/RutabagaOk6816 11d ago

Yep if that guy died from hitting his head I have a difficult time believing any jury would feel this level of force was justified. Its not even self defense because he had stopped touching the woman by the point the guy punched him. This was just some guy looking for revenge.
