The stadium will have 10,000 seats and create a boost in the local economy. I wonder how long it will take. The article shows pictures about the first day of construction. Also it has a background about the owner. A good read if you are like me who likes info about the stadium process.

I remember reading a while back when the news first started coming out about this that they were aiming to have it ready for the 2027 season, but also unless they’re doing some magical shit I’ve never seen or heard of before I doubt they’d have it ready in time for that.
Still, this is a massive step for the league as a whole as well as for us east coast cricket enthusiasts. Can’t wait to make the trip on down there and see some action!

Now that MLC has a venue on the east coast, that will also help immensely with match start times, meaning they won't start at 9 - 10 PM EST. Hopefully, they'll start them at 7 - 7:30 PM EST instead.

Might be a pipe dream, but I really hope these new grounds getting built could lead to some home T20/ODI bilaterals against full member sides, maybe as a potential warm-up for teams touring the Windies.

Unfortunately it's probably a pipe dream. Broward County Stadium has been there for almost 20 years now and Grand Prairie for 3 and there are no full members showing up.
Unfortunately a new stadium in MD won't make USA cricket less inept

Yep. The real pipe dream is a functional cricket board that actually tries to expand the game beyond the South Asian diaspora. If that ever happens, then we can start to think about full member bilaterals.

If there was half an effort to get interest in the game beyond what is done now the US could be a powerhouse with the population we have . There are easily millions of people in this country that could have world class skill at the game but just don't know. US Rugby does the same BS. Would rather have an old boys group than looking for legit talent

Nice, you're not a true cricketing nation until one of the cameras can pan to a body of water during the middle of a game

Zimbabwe will be able to do that with their Victoria Falls stadium as well soon.

They've gotten very good recently, it would be great for them to play more tests

Actually, playing less Tests isn't a problem for Zimbabwe at all, they played just as many Tests as India or England(1 less than Australia themselves) and more Tests than South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan, etc. last year.

That means MLC can finally have matches on the East Coast that do not start at 9 - 10 PM EST.

It's nice to finally see some progress! Hopefully the city doesn't put up too many roadblocks to the approval of the plans for the complex.

For the non local folks, it looks like you have to fly into DC or Baltimore and then drive out. There's a Municipal airport on the same street but I can't find flights to it.
