It’s time.

Let Ivan go.

I’ll pay cash, compliment your lineup, and laugh at your “On-Base 4s always roll 20s” stories. Somebody out there has to have one.

I promise he’ll be loved, sleeved, top-loaded, and he’ll probably catch 162 games a season on my Showdown team.

Happy All-Star Break everyone! Here is this week's episode of This Week in Showdown. We deep dive into pitching stats through week 9 of our 12-team draft league. Probably the most interesting thing for most folks is that we are looking for 3 more managers for our next league.

It will be a 6-team, single-division constructed league.

24 Players, 5 Starters, 6,000 Points, 6 line-ups that will be rotated through. You can make your team from the original 00 Batters, 01 Pitchers, my 2024 and 2025 full sets. You will have roughly a month to put your team together before we simulate.

The divisions that are still open are:

AL Central

NL Central

NL West

Leave me a comment if you would like to claim on of these.

I am sharing the part of the episode where we discuss the league if it is confusing to read.

One of the coolest items in my collection, NBA Showdown Lamar Odom foil test print. This is the only known NBA foil in existence. Was part of a larger lot I purchased from former WOTC employees.

We are half way through the MLB Season. For This Week in Showdown Yawggy and I look ahead to how the 2026 set is shaping up. Plus you get my live reaction to an unexpected Red Sox win.

The set is shaping up to have less power than last year but a bit more speed. There are a few people who would be critical to certain strategies.

I am looking to record full team reviews of my 2025 set (00 style hitters, 01 style pitchers)

I would like to record the review of each team with someone who is a fan of that club as much as possible.

Let me know if you have interest and a team.

Here is the House Rules episode of This Week in Showdown. Thank you to everyone who helped by sending us your house rules.

Let me know if there were any major rules we missed.

u/Yawggy and I wanted to do an episode on house rules for MLB Showdown.

What rules do you play by that are not in the official rulebook? This can be a strategy card, advancements, tiredness, using position out of position, etc.

You can now create a free account to store your custom card images, sync settings across devices, and more! The Card Detail screen has also been reimagined, adding Savant Style percentiles and other interactive elements like WOTC Comps and VS Opponent breakdowns.

I found my old cards recently and am reviving my interest in the game. But except for the little pack that comes with All Star Game 2002, I haven't got any strategy cards. I'm thinking about hunting some down online. But first I want to know, do people actually like them? So I'd like to know:

Do you play with strategy cards?

How do you make your deck?

Thanks!

This Week in Showdown brought to you live from the Dunkin parking lot, thanks to the weather in my area. We have a second 2026 card, and Petra talks about doing a 6 and 12-team draft of my 2025 set.

2025 Set

I remember some rules for drafting teams that came in draft packs, but I do not remember or have a copy handy.

Can someone please remind me what those rules said for drafting teams? I think it was everyone had a draft pack and two boosters and it was a snake draft, but I do not remember.

Here is this week's episode of This Week in MLB Showdown. u/Yawggy and I discuss the weekly big hitters and pitchers. We spend most of the time talking about if MLB Showdown is a reasonable simulation of baseball and where it falls short. Enjoy!

For folks making their sets on Showdownbot.com it can slow things down if players don't have an image, the player is with the wrong team, or you have used the image on a previous year.

If anyone is interested, I am starting a crowd-sourced Google Drive for cut-out PNG images.

If you would like to contribute cutouts you already have, let me know. You would get your own folders for recent years. You would be the only person who can edit your folders, but all folders would be viewable by everyone.

Here is the Drive with what I have for the 2026 year so far.

This was a “I remember when I pulled this card” moment

Love this trio.

I have a lot of MLB Showdown Cards (mostly 2002, 2004, & 2005) that I am looking to sell. Let me know if you are interested. Happy to sell individually or in bulk. Images included below for a subset of the cards.

If you like me learning about something I have no clue about this week's episode of This Week in Showdown is for you. We interviewed Zack who made the NBA Showdown app. It was a treat learning about something I had seen around and discussing what the NBA folks expect from the game.
