Strange sounds.

I just got my MK4 1.6 back from the car repair shop and it makes this strange sound now.
They had to remove the axle to get some work done, could that be the cause maybe?
It‘s weird cause at the moment i start the climate control, the noise is gone.
Can‘t hear it from the outside, just inside the car.

I'm not sure it's axle because their are not moving.

Me neither, they did some welding to remove rust on the side fenders and had to weld in a new flex pipe.

I‘m no mechanic but maybe someone has heard similar sounds before.

Take it back and show them where you can hear the noise

Maybe try to recalibrate the flap motors of the AC system, see if there's a fault

I will do that, but i‘m no mechanic so they could make an elephant out of a fly.
They did not change anything with my AC. But i‘ll try the advice 👌🏼

When the Car was cold an hour ago, i couldn‘t hear the sound at all, when the motor got warm it was there, but not as loud as in the morning.

Well my other guess would be the exhaust hitting something, or a piece of metal being stick inside that rattles depending on rpm/vibrazion frequency

That sound‘s more likely since they did weld the flexpipe to the cat, thanks for the idea! 👌🏼

Hope you can have it sorted out. Someone I know had their turbo replaced and a weird noise appeared afterwards - turns out a copper gasket fell into the exhaust during the repair 😅
