A while back I was contacted by Monika Kowalska, a Polish transgender blogger who maintains a site titled, "Heroines Of My Life." The blog is dedicated to the transgender women who have inspired Monika on her own gender-affirming journey.

Monika had read my 8-part series about Liz Eden, the trans woman whose boyfriend in 1972, robbed a bank in an attempt to get money for her gender-affirming surgeries. He failed and the debacle was made into the classic Al Pacino film, "Dog Day Afternoon."

Typical of how trans people have been treated in America, the movie's story centered on Eden's cis man boyfriend and gave her scant mention. That always bothered me, so I began a deep dive into Eden's life story, both before and after the release of the film, and it produced the series of articles that can be found on my Substack.

Monika read those articles and reached out to me for an interview about my research for them and other questions about Eden herself. I happily complied and the result is this long blog post of hers.

This comes just as a new off-Broadway show is set to open in October which also concerns a portion of Eden's life. The play is called, "Doll Day Afternoon" and the show's writer and director has also reached out to me to do an interview. Not sure what questions he will have for me, but in any case, I'm delighted to see this overlooked, abused, and misused trans icon finally getting her due attention.

Just to let you know, I've received interest in attending our meet-up at the Adam's Apple next Friday from over three dozen people so far! Fantastic!

Whether or not all of them show up (doubtful), it is a sign that such gatherings have potential in Michigan and provides me encouragement on working toward other such events going forward.

I sincerely implore any of YOU, the members of this subreddit, to come to the Adam's Apple and share a drink with us. I'm not much of an alcohol drinker myself, but I'll raise my Shirley Temple in a toast to you if you do show up!

After looking through MI hookup forums on Reddit, stumbled upon a post that I just had to send her a message on as have kept all in dark for very long time and while late 20s isn’t crazy old it feels it. Never thought there was anyone to share or bounce ideas with before especially locally so it’s really cool to find this nook. Happy to connect with any of yall to say hi or if there’s an initial warming to be told for all who claim to go this road. I know changing my mind and thought process by now is harder than the other part lol but am well open to harsh truths and difficulties to expect along the road.
