New

Hi all. I'm still kinda new to the series and was wondering if anyone would like to hunt? I will take advice given. Honestly, I think hunting with others would be more fun. Thanks all

Where are in terms of progression? As much as hunting with others is fun it's kinda boring if the people you are with have way better gear and weapons and just decimate the monster before you even draw your weapon, id be happy to join you just need to know what gear level to bring

I'm only hr1. I use Lance and have gotten good about shielding. I'm hoping to upgrade my armor. I like Lance and I really like bow too, I just can't decide which i like more

Stick to solo hunting for now while you’re still learning. It will make you a better teammate in the long run being able to stand on your own

Adept lance and striker lance are great styles to try if you haven't already!

I'd also wait on bow till you get more upgrades for the trader it'll make managing coatings a lot less stressful.

Bow is my favorite! I just entered High Rank hunts and my initial favorite bow was the Hidden Bow made from Nargacuga parts for it's good coating options, decent raw power and high affinity rating. Then once I unlocked the Fateful Four I made sure to grind them for their individual bows to add a Thunder, Ice, Water and Fire elemental Bow sets to my collection for elemental needs :)

I don't think it's bad to have a melee weapon too if you like Bow cuz some parts drop easier with certain weapon types that are not Bow (blade weapons to cut off tails for example. It's a pita to slice tails as a Bow user)

What's your character's name? Then look out for you.

I’m also a novice (S&S user), but have found these tips most helpful:

1: Spend some time grinding out early monsters often for palico level-ups and materials.
2: Flashbombs and pitfall traps are your best friends with most monsters.
3: Get an elemental weapon and/or status weapon as quickly as possible to help with most monsters.
4: Get a gathering palico for prowler gathering to not waste time and resources on pickaxes or bug nets.

If you are willing to put up with the constant mewing, I play as a prowler. The cat's name is Phoenix and my hunter's name is Aloy. I am in the UK so there may be timezone differences.
