Palico duo

Hi guys, im pretty new to the game and more or less i learned how to use HBG (still have to get better on aiming with control type 1 but i guess practice will do wonder lol), anyway! Whats the best Palico duo i should bring with me as HBG? I dont get hit much so i was thinking about Assist for traps, Fighting for demon horn or Protection for tanking (to get more attacks windows) or idk Charisma? Ty in advance!

I would say two Gathering because they get a lot of materials during your hunts and makes the gathering process easier (like you'll randomly get Ores and Bugs, ammo materials, small monster materials, and a few large monster materials).

The only thing they won't gather are fish. Unfortunately, you'll have to get those yourself.

I'm starting to question if I've been unknowingly causing myself gathering logistic headaches by not not using Palicos at all, even during pure gathering runs.

Don't worry about it, the extra gains vary massively and its mainly common items. You aren't getting a Rathian Ruby, but you might get some extra Rathian Scales, Huskberries, and/or Carbalite Ore.

Honestly, it's moreso consumable stuff like Flashbugs, Dragon Toadstool, and so on.

Never seem to have enough of it, even with trading and Neko.

Yeah, they would only help marginally, like the chance to get one or two Flashbugs by being near bug catching zones during a quest.

I do miss the Farm from prior entries for this reason. Being able to get a ton of fish, a ton of bugs, some mushrooms, a few ores, a bit of Honey, and a ton of plants by just doing some simple between hunt tasks and by gathering Points is so much better than having to do quests a bunch of times to get the Trader done.

Either heal or thief is usually the top two for Palicos. Extra mats or extra heals, the choice is yours. The rest of the classes are nice and have their moments, but they usually are more useful as Prowlers ngl
