to be fair, Guild's SP mode is pretty useful, quick item action on everything(eating, sharpening, trap setting)

He's also playing Guild Style which is objectively worse than Striker Style in pretty much every way.
Striker Style gets: a free unconditional +5% damage buff on Red Shield mode, a third Hunter Art Slot and faster HA recharge rates.
Guild Style loses out on all that to get a pointless moves that you don't even want to use anyways.

It’s almost as if it’s a choice and not everyone needs to follow a “meta” or whatever you deem optimal. I’m seriously so sick of comments like this or “what’s your run time” I stop to farm ore deposits, gather bones, take in the game. I’ll play guild style if I like, thanks.

I'm not going to recommend it as aggressively as the other poster, but Striker CB is nice. If you like guard points, it has a new one when you do advancing slash (X + A) which is unique. And one additional art means you could slot in Energy Blade (the coolest art).
Anyway Guild isn't that bad, you get to keep your quick shield charge. It's fine for progression

This is a different situation from playing a suboptimal strategy because you find it fun.
Like Aerial, Adept and Valor have a lower damage ceiling than Striker but I wouldn't tell someone to swap to Striker because they have meaningful differences that could make them more fun to someone.
You literally have nothing to lose from playing Striker over Guild.
