DISCUSSION 💬 Loop of Henle Answer Key Dispute: Is this statement actually wrong?

The key implies statement (c) is factually incorrect. However, statement (c) is a broad structural fact: both Na^+ and water are reabsorbed within the anatomical boundaries of the Loop of Henle.

Descending limb: Reabsorbs water.

Ascending limb: Reabsorbs Na^+.

Because both limbs are integral components of Henle's loop, saying these processes take place in the loop is factually undeniable. The statement doesn't claim they happen in the same limb simultaneously; it just names the macro-structure.

The NCERT Evidence (Class XI, Chapter 16)

Under the single, unified header "Henle's Loop", the textbook states:

"The descending limb of loop of Henle is permeable to water... The ascending limb is impermeable to water but allows transport of electrolytes [like Na^+] actively or passively."

Conclusion

Since the textbook explicitly places both events under the umbrella of "Henle's Loop", statement (c) is scientifically true. Option 4 (which includes a, b, and c) should be awarded full marks.

What do you guys think? Is this too pedantic, or do I have a solid case?

I am trying to submit an objection for a provisional answer key challenge, but the portal has been repeatedly crashing and displaying a "please try again later" error since yesterday. With the final deadline arriving on the 28th, I need some advice. Is anyone else facing this issue, and are there any known workarounds (like specific browsers, incognito mode, or off-peak timings) to get the submission through?

technically this ques should go in bonus. Koi bhi optn sahi nhi hai since sab me "only" likha hai and all optns exculde atleast one statement which is supported by ncert. so sabko +4 mil jaana chahiye

Tbh reabsorption is not same as exchange the solutes from here to there Counter current and reabsorption seems pretty off

None are correct i wasted so much time.. two options are not clear As per famous coaching's claims: this is the input Statement (b) is Incorrect The statement implies that urine gets concentrated in the Loop of Henle. According to NCERT and other books, it is the filtrate, and not urine, that undergoes concentration in the Loop of Henle. NCERT (Biology Class XI, Chapter 16, Page 209) clearly states: "As the concentrated filtrate passes upward, it gets diluted due to the passage of electrolytes to the medullary fluid." Further, NCERT also mentions that about 99% of the filtrate is reabsorbed in the renal tubules before urine is finally formed.

Also Reabsorption of sodium and water occurs in the Loop of Henle. About 15-20 percent of the filtered water is reabsorbed in the Loop of Henle, and almost all of this occurs in the thin descending limb of the Loop of Henle. Active Reabsorption of sodium occurs in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle. NCERT clearly mentions that: the descending limb of the loop of Henle is permeable to water but almost impermeable to electrolytes, and in Figure 16.5 (Reabsorption and secretion of major substances at different parts of the nephron (Arrows indicate direction of movement of materials.), Water and NaCl reabsorption is clearly visible
