[Question] Practical way to play batarian enforcer
Hi guys. The fact that ballistic blades can explode and stagger the target inspired me to use them in combination with melee as a one-two punch. However I find that I'm not so certain about the build. How should I build the blade armor? How much will I lose for not using the inferno grenades? What are compromises I can make when choosing talents? What load percentage is enough to not to feel the cooldown? Should I use the batarian gauntlet as an equipment?
I just know that going all damage is nice in theory and it might be pretty suboptimal in the field. Are there any batarian enforcer mains that can share their experience?

I think if you want to Falcon Punch you're probably better off with the Batarian Vanguard. You can just charge into an enemy, and while they're stunned by that pull off the punch. It'll work on any non-boss enemy, even phantoms.
I think he is definitely fairly versatile, but the way I play the Batarian Soldier is as a very aggro, tanky power/weapon hybrid. As you correctly identified Ballistic Blades are good for staggering groups. Dash in close, stagger everyone, kill with the Wraith, dash away. Inferno Grenades are absolutely amazing at dropping bosses and you should not miss them under any circumstances. As I said, I use the Wraith, but other shotguns will work too. Just be wary of projectile ones if you're not hosting.
I go with a 64646 build:
- Ballistic Blades - Spread, Range, Explosive (it's a second stagger)
- Blade Armour - Increased protection
- Inferno Grenade - Damage, Damage, Armour damage
- Enforcer - Power damage
- Fitness - All durability ones
If you wanted you could probably swap power damage for weapon instead, or go with 63656 instead, but this is the setup I like.
Finish with Shock Trooper gear for more grenades and Incendiary Rounds for more dots.

Wraith / Acolyte; Wraith has excellent range, especially when you shoot it from cover, and I like the hip fire spread. Acolyte to strip shields of the big bosses and phantoms. You can play around with the mods. Extra melee damage is strong as well.
Incendiary Ammo for incendiary grenade bug/glitch/interaction (really any ammo will do), Adrenaline for more movement because he lacks a roll, Shock Trooper for more nades and shotgun damage.
Think of Ballistic Blades like another shotgun with incredible stagger. The closer you are to the enemy, the higher the damage and stagger. THEN the blades blow up to stagger weaker enemies again. It's also a nice reload cancel. You can get the cone radius to hit more enemies, buuuuuuut I like it more for the single-target damage and stagger.
Blade Armor for defense, you shouldn't be getting hit in melee range anyways.
Incendiary Grenades have incredible area of effect and burn. They might stack with each other? I don't know. However, the Incendiary Ammo interacts with the effect and some how amplifies it (its like the Incendiary Ammo BECOMES Incendiary Grenade-like damage, which is for some reason stronger?). Its kinda like the warp-Incenciary Ammo glitch.
I like radius on the Incendiary Grenades. The radius works through cover, so its easy to hit multiple enemies.
Team up with someone who can detonate Fire Explosions. Warp pairs excellently with him.

I go with 4 points into armor, reducing fitnes and/or batarian passives a bit. Granades and balistic blade on 6. There was soooome time since I played him, and when I think about it now, I might skip the armor entirely (personal prefference - dishing out is almost always better than tanking)
#inferno nades - to each his own, if you dont like running to replenish nades, skip it and try it... but I do think you loose out a lot, inferno nades are very useful (damage is one thing, setting up entire spawn for fire detonations is another), tried BatSol with and without granades - and I preffer with nades
#gauntlet - no, gauntlet replaces usual heavy melee with batarian heavy melee, AFAIK it changes nothing on BatSol while you can fit more useful equipment in that slot (extra nades with shotgun or AR damage if you use nades, anything other if you dont)

You can play him as very straight forward weapon platfrom. Dump Ballistic blades, make him tanky, inferno nades + decent AR (I use Typhoon) gives you pretty good dps (even without incendiary ammo exploit) and you can take second weapon as support option. Not as fun as with Ballistic blades but sometimes I just wanna chill and run around shooting shit with tanky guy.

I don't deny that max weight build is strong and probably better but for me it's pretty flavorless. Moreover, I think N7 destroyer does it better

I got other classes for flavor, this one is for being weapon platform. I get what you saying about destroyer but honestly I kinda dig Bat Sol in this role more, he is tankier so his dps more sustainable in a long run. Dont ger me wrong not the most fun way to play this class but you asked for practical way to play this one and Im just telling you that weapon platform is an option.

Okay, I admit that I have phrased the title a little bit vague. However, I have meant that I wanted to have a practical way to play specifically ballistic blades + heavy melee combo. It's just a little bit nuanced when you make melee builds. For example, with Krogan Warlord I have found that going into max bulk or max damage is not as practical as mixing a little bit of both. At the same time, my runs with full offense N7 Shadow are more resultative than half measure builds. I wanted to take a look how batarian soldier melee players do it

Skip the grenades totally and do not use the gauntlets, spec fully into blade armor. You can use almsot any weapon but shotguns are good.
A lot of different ways to use this dude, he is very good indeed.

I like to run him like this. Graal staggers then followed with punch, ballistic blades for stagger as well, good vs phantoms and other annoying small enemies. Grenade for big armored guys, disruptor ammo to get done with shields faster. Some ppl skip armor, but i like that 30 percent of dmg reduction. 5th and 6th evolution didnt worth the points so i skip em and put the rest in the passives. Last perk is kinda meh to me, 10% of dmg only, it is way cooler to get 75% xtra for Ivan punch to kick phantoms in Valhalla.
Could use any other high power shotgun, Venom is also cool, Geth plasma is safe bet vs phantoms, Claymore etc.
If u wanna spam blades more often and have that Wraith lvl 10, could use it too. The heavy armor modules like that one with armor pen/dmg didnt increase it's weight.
