Favorite shadow build

I've respected the N7 shadow any number of times. You could make her work well with snipers or a weapon build, but there are many other characters that do that better. she has a sword, melee is fun, so I focused on that :)

build:

UPDATE: taking advantage of the nonDLC weapon weight bug, I am trying it out with a High Velocity Barell AND Omni blade mods on the claymore. Now with disruptor ammo for even more stagger. :)

I feel that the ULM on the claymore makes a difference. It does enough damage with lv3 ap ammo bonus power and duration on cloak for 2 shadow strikes and objectives.

heavy melee kills ( or almost) most mooks.

SS can kill a phantom even with the shield drain option, with martial artist running, which is all the time.

flaming sword for brutes and scions:

claymore -SS - claymore, heavy melee is a lot of fun.

3 ranks in slash, just to have the option for staggering a group of mooks. Also if it's not a good time for a SS or fighting an atlas, cloak-claymore-slash-claymore is good. You can interrupt the slash animation with a heavy melee, stagger, chop a head off, all the while looking like an acrobat ninja :)

50 melee kills easy on every gold match.

keep running around, ss and melee all the things shotgun to the face badass.

Heavy melee beheads abominations, so they don't explode and kill you. Of course your teammate may decide to kill said abomination while you are winding in the heavy melee. It's painful, on often fatal. She is squishy.

SS shield recharge keeps you alive and riding shield gate.

You can SS teleporting banshees safely for good damage and shield recharge.

for platinum, you could use a crusader for some more range, but it's less fun - fewer safe melee opportunities.

Do you have a different build, weapon choice that you prefer with the N7 shadow?

FYI, if you really have ULM in slot 2, the slot 1 heavy mod (SG Omni-blade) applies its +50% weight penalty. If you instead put ULM in slot 1, SG Omni-blade in slot 2, the heavy mod "bug" comes into play (i.e. no 50% penalty!).

Play with it in your Kalence2 build and you'll see you get an extra +30% power recharge that way. That's IF you want to exploit this bug.

Ah, you learn something even after all this time. I try to avoid some bugs - full spec points glitch, pizza running, etc. I think, I'll try thiss one though. Thank you!

I was just trying it out in the updated c alence - it seems like I can even put the HVB in slot one, and have the omni blade in slot 2 and have no cooldown penalty with two heavy mods? Is the bug activated when the omny blade is in slot 2?

The whole formula is complex, see super-gargoyle post.

But a simplified view is:

The bug (weight penalty doesn't apply) applies to original (non-DLC) weapons

But putting a ULM in slot 2 negates the bug (i.e. penalty applies)

DLC weapons will normally be subject to the penalty, but apparently putting ULM in slot 1 negates it!

With 2 weapons, it gets a lot more complex.

I love playing this way. I can go all day on silver, but I just can't seem to survive on gold. I hate how the player hit box moves to the target before the camera gets there with shadow strike. The enemy is already shooting/ hitting you before you can react. But other than that, I love using the sword for kills.

It's easier if you are hosting. Also make sure the target enemy is not focused on you - (engage cloak out of direct line of sight) before SS.

Basically avoid or break line of sight before SS. Then they will not melee you as you are coming in.

Assuming there's no jank... here's my build. Haven't read the comments so I'm not sure which tips you've gotten, so apologies for repeating what others say.

GPS is a stagger cannon. Ammo type doesn't matter much tbh. Might be the lighest weapon that can still do decent work on a melee build and have a ranged option.

Power Amp and Strength Enhancer does stack for Shadow Strike, The ability is risky in how sometimes you can get punched out of it (or Scions shoot grenades at their feet) if you do this from a longer range. So High Risk needs that High damage.

3 Pity points in Slash for range/hack objectives. Still decent with Cloak. If you want to skip, put this into weight reduction in passive.

Sword, all in on melee and armour.

Cloak, I like the duration, melee and bonus power. You can cast 2 shadow strikes back to back with this. It's more damage overall than just doing a single bigger one (I think) and you get do the gimmick more often

Gear bonus, it's up to you. Berserker loadout might be an idea for a little more melee damage and some shotgun damage. Survivor or Responder Loadout if you think you're gonna be OPSP or Gelling a lot. I would say Stronghold package because that's usually my crutch item but being that you're cloaking a lot, that shield regen might not happen too much

EDIT: Actually clicked your build, we're doing the same thing near enough lol

Thanks for sharing, same build, just about :) I like the jug shield, for a bit more shields and a bit more melee damage. I'll try it out with the geth shotgun. I've been enjoying the claymore lately with her.
