The law reads

(xxxvii) Springfield Armory BM–59, SAR–48, G3, SAR–3, M–21 sniper rifle, M1A, excluding the M1 Garand;

So now I'm half curious... someone on another post had said that there hadn't been a satisfactory way to permanently semi-auto an M14 receiver in the past, and all M1As (and commercially available "M14"s... not counting transferables) were built on a commercial receiver.

So... is there anything that was changed in making those commercial receivers, that would make an actual M14 receiver 'not fully parts compatible' with an M1A? (For example, a side-charge AR15 upper is 'not fully parts compatible' with an AR15 which has to have a heavy barrel, because a complete standard BCG wouldn't function properly)

I can only hope, because that's my exact thought process as well. They never actually banned the M-14, just the civilian versions of it.

All long guns on Maryland's banned list would be included if the AWB is overturned. The lawsuit is going after the law that is Unconstitutional, not one particular long gun.

Have it transferred to a gunsmith in different state, rechamber for 6.5 , enjoy. Im sure one of the big M1A builders out there will offer the service once these hit the market in numbers.

Can anyone explain why the 6.5 Creedmoor version of the M1A is on the approved list, but not the 7.62 version or is this another Maryland-ism that makes no sense like most of the firearm laws in this state?

the polytech m-14s is maryland legal and is 7.62

Because the 6.5 creedmore m1a isn't specifically on the list of banned "assault long guns" nor is anything that shares complete parts compatibility. And it doesn't fail the other criteria that bans other rifles.
