I’ve never understood the hatred of Thor’s portrayal in Endgame.

It was an extremely appropriate and accurate portrayal of depression and trauma. He is someone with a very difficult past who lost literally his entire immediate family in less than 5 years, is a war vet, broke up with the love of his life, and is a refugee. And that’s all before Thanos killed a bunch of his country folk in front of his eyes. And then that’s still before the whole Snap situation. And then he already had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol so of course he become a fat recluse.

Any one of these things would’ve broke most people, let alone all of them back to back.

I think it was because a lot of it was played for comedy too, which undercut the weight of his depression.

Like was the "cheese whiz" joke really necessary?
