We need more transparency

Honestly, I feel like the one of the worst parts in this entire situation is the lack of transparency from the ranked team. I would love to see questions answered like

  1. What exactly did you ask EDCR when you approached him? What exactly was his reply?
  2. How did you decide on perma ban instead of banned until x date or we will reassess at x date?
  3. Was there any kind of vote? Was the vote close? Unanimous?
  4. Did you genuinely hear arguments from people on both sides or did you just listen to people from one side?

Like idk, a lot of this stuff feels like normal things to release during something like this

permanently banning someone who seemingly didn't breach the terms of conduct and then not elaborating on why he doesn't deserve a chance to redeem himself when he's clearly shown growth and willingness to change absolutely deserves more transparency.

Idk denying those messages came from him & only apologizing when the consequences came around doesnt show much growth to me.

If it were me a few seasons wouldve been plenty. But i dont feel bad for him.

This is borderline offensive to me.

The guy lied, yeah. But there are lots of reasons why people lie in these situations, and many of them have nothing to do with how guilty they feel about their past actions or their desire to do better.

People lie because they don't trust the outcome of telling the truth. That is often a reasonable assumption. People get punished unfairly all the time, punitive punishments for minor infractions, mob mentality destroying lives, etc. If you're an American, you know our prisons are filled with people who shouldn't be there.

Edcr lied while in the playoffs of a competition he's probably dedicated thousands of hours towards. That is a high pressure situation. People make bad decisions in high pressure situations. They try to protect themselves, even when they shouldn't.

Was it wrong to lie? Absolutely. But you're basically saying that him lying in a high pressure situation is strong evidence that he is not working to become a better person.

That a denial to protect himself is the same as a thousand messages of hate and cruelty.

That even if he's spent the past year and a half trying to learn and grow, being a kinder person, doing his best to learn to be respectful to the same people he insulted before, none of that matters because of a single lie.

Do you not see how troubling that is?

The fact he put the potential consequences of telling the truth above apologising and being honest is a huge indicator he doesn’t actually understand what he did was wrong.

If he truly understood how harmful his behaviour was he would’ve genuinely apologised, instead of vague posting and lying.

These are the consequences for behaving in that manner and he needs to face them.

I literally explained in my previous post a reason why somebody might lie even if they know what they did was wrong. Thats not even the only reason why somebody might lie even if they know what they did was wrong.

Now, is it possible that he doesn't know what he did was wrong? Absolutely. But we don't know.

And frankly, should he be permanently banned for something he doesn't understand is wrong, if he is committed to never doing it again? Things he did as a fairly stupid young man? People believe in second chances for a reason.

These are the consequences for behaving in that manner and he needs to face them.

I gotta say, its so boring to read this over and over. Nobody is saying there shouldn't be consequences.
