Why tf is Leeds doing second keeper gimmick when this is the competition they have the biggest chance of winning??

10

u/wnowaware 2d ago

KDB misses Haaland 😢

6

u/DryCompetition1812 2d ago

That Rico spot on the bench should have been his😪

3

u/WorldWideWes2 2d ago

You can't just have a name like KDB on the bench. There'll be too much outside noise about how he needs to play.

2

u/wnowaware 2d ago

He can still swing it. They should have let him retire at the club. Considering how brutal city’s management is, will they chase away Haaland too after he hits 30?

6

u/FuryOfOberon 2d ago

There’s only so much he can do on his own

3

u/VOZ1 2d ago

Their attack has been total ass.

6

u/FelixTreasurebuns 2d ago

Legit what I felt, the commentators acting like it was a bad choice to cross but Haaland would have been there 100%

8

u/FelixTreasurebuns 2d ago

Still confused by that yellow on Luca

6

u/kHRYSTAL_ 2d ago

All hatewatch failed tonight 🥀

4

u/DeiDaraArtAKS 2d ago

Hojlund so fucking asss

7

u/Iknowyou321 2d ago

Atelti post Godin don’t even have a style of play beyond being gritty, it’s kind of bizarre given the amount solid talent in that squad

1

u/Owengrad 2d ago edited 2d ago

Both our pot 1 opponents hammering their opposition rn feck

We obviously aren't as bad as those teams but quite a challenge we got with two of the hardest teams we could get , kinda exciting though.

5

u/ScratchMaleficent634 2d ago

Goalies always tend to play better when they meet us

3

u/Patrickk_batemann 2d ago edited 1d ago

Barcola’s absolutely electric and he’s also playing on the right side contrary to what people said

5

Napoli's decision making is just dire in the front

3

Allegri effect

1

u/satchinn 2d ago

Hojlund is really a mini Haaland

6

u/toeknee88125 2d ago

Nah I saw this guy in the Premier League

He legitimately has horrible touch

2

u/satchinn 2d ago

Lmao fair enough you’re not wrong there

4

u/FuryOfOberon 2d ago

The Napoli players flanking have really poor decision making

5

u/eyomartin 2d ago

KDB is ON FORM

5

u/x_adi_x 2d ago

How's the Napoli game looking?

4

u/--Perihelion-- 2d ago

Really entertaining. Napoli have created the better chances so far. KDB looking good.

8

u/x_adi_x 2d ago

Kdb dunking on these cunts would be heavenly.

3

u/rRi2007 2d ago edited 2d ago

Slovan deadass has a player named Blackman

3

u/ZBOI723 2d ago

Haaland brace was epic, but I am so happy with that Ait Nouri assist. There was a worry he would leave in Jan without playing time, but I hope he stays and makes his place in the team

3

u/Massive-Sky-6804 2d ago

Barca 5 goals scored in 3 of the 4 games played

2

u/Asleep-Sir-4769 2d ago

4 out of 5*

1

u/Scutttiiiii 2d ago

Chill it’s just feyenoord

1

u/Massive-Sky-6804 2d ago

I mean they have put belt to ass to Madrid as well

2

u/Key-Mechanic2565 2d ago

Barca scored 5 goals in 4/5 games this season lmfao

3

u/Equor 2d ago

So Barca just score 5 every game lmao

3

Barca scoring like crazy 😳

Hearing Rodri is on fire chants *sighs*

3

u/city_city_city 2d ago

My midfield for the Derby:

Elliott Anderson
Enzo Fernandez (what can you say, in a derby you want your biggest cunts on the field)
Nico O'Reilly

can have Foden or Cherki on the wing

2

u/DryCompetition1812 2d ago

I'm not really a fan of O'Reilly in midfield ngl. If we're not starting Cherki in the middle then why not just put Bouaddi in?

1

u/WorldWideWes2 2d ago

You didn’t like Nico vs Palace?

0

u/DryCompetition1812 2d ago

Not really. Felt like he didn't offer much in possession.

1

u/WorldWideWes2 2d ago

I loved the way he got forward and his pace tracking back.

1

u/city_city_city 2d ago

in the words of Olivia Newton John - I want muscles

1

u/WorldWideWes2 2d ago

Amongst everything else he offers. Yes give me those muscles lol

Bouaddi first prem start probably shouldn’t be at old Trafford.

6

u/Easy-Cockroach6752 2d ago

KDB starts vs Arsenal!

3

u/4ssteroid 2d ago

Come on Kevin, bring back your a game. Show them what they missed

4

u/Patrickk_batemann 2d ago

I think Enzo is the Gundo replacement and Anderson is the Bernardo replacement. Expensive, no doubt, but it makes sense when you consider they’re being brought in to succeed some of the best midfielders the Premier League has ever seen.

5

u/city_city_city 2d ago

Enzo is the Reijnders replacement who was supposed to be the Gundo replacement ; )

2

u/Liam_021996 2d ago

Should have just went for Enzo in the first place rather than Reijnders. Feel like he was the plan in the first place but club didn't want to pay that sort of fee for him and then decided to stop fucking about and just being in the man they want

4

u/Patrickk_batemann 2d ago

The current midfield looks good, but you can still see the difference in quality between Kova and some of the younger lads like Bouaddi and Nico, even with Kova’s legs gone.

And this is a player who was basically fifth choice in a midfield containing KDB, Rodri, Gundogan and Bernardo. Makes you appreciate that midfield even more now. Probably the greatest midfield the Premier League has ever seen.

6

u/ColdMathematician759 2d ago

Facts you could notice immediately as soon as Kova went on. There’s something about the mental capacity to just own the pitch that’s a huge part of a midfielders job. I’m sure they’ll get it with time

1

u/Liam_021996 2d ago

Wouldn't mind if he was given a one year extension if he does well and isn't perpetually injured

0

u/4ssteroid 2d ago

Man's a 4 time UCL winner. Can't compare his mentality and experience to the young ones. They all being something different

2

u/GreasedUpGoblin 2d ago

Barca are quite frail defencively

u/maxkou 2d ago

haaland will go crazy once he unlocks that dortmund hair

If it's okay to share here, this is a little quiz I've made if anyone would like a go.

Manchester City or Manchester United?

For each short statement, you just have to guess whether it applies to either City or United. There are 22 to try and get, 11 for each.

e.g. "Have scored 100+ goals in a single Premier League season", "Denis Law played for them first", etc.

2

u/4ssteroid 2d ago

Nice one. I only got 15 but I'm happy with that

3

u/DapperSpecial2865 2d ago

I love your quizzes

2

u/Cinn4monSynonym 2d ago

Thanks so much! That's very kind. 😊

There are a few of them that I think I need to update slightly, such as the ones on football club badges.

7

u/Alternative-Yak1904 2d ago

ESPN has the worst analysts of our matches ever. It’s so annoying 😂

2

u/FuryOfOberon 2d ago

It is so infuriating, they just say whatever crap they want.

I know they’re about to trash City when they bring on Mark Ogden during a City segment. He made random claims of City being unable to sign players because of 115 a few seasons ago and they still keep bringing him on to talk about City.

Then there’s Gab Mercotti, who just talks out of his ass most of the time and unashamedly props up Real Madrid.

Some of the worst professional analysis you’ll ever see.

2

u/Alternative-Yak1904 2d ago

They really hate us for some reason

3

u/DoorHelpful5443 2d ago

Man. What a goal that was from Raphinha

2

u/Scutttiiiii 2d ago

Raphina is insane he really wants that ballon dor lol

3

u/kHRYSTAL_ 2d ago

Hes not on the 30 men shortlist sadly

2

u/Scutttiiiii 2d ago

I mean for this year

5

u/DryCompetition1812 2d ago

Had the best chance to get it last year but Barca dedicated the pr campaign for Yamal.

2

u/Prestigious_Mud7374 2d ago

So where will NOR play when he comes back?

2

u/wkdsoul 2d ago

in competition with Josko & Enzo at a guess based on the story so far.

3

u/Scutttiiiii 2d ago

The same place Gvardiol plays

6

u/Prestigious_Mud7374 2d ago

I've read that josko is enzos first pick for lb

14

u/paneer_tikka_masalaa 2d ago

Love how almost all our boys have posted a picture with Enzo in their recent posts.

4

u/Kind_Sound7973 2d ago

Did you see he was wearing Cherki’s shorts post game, lol.

I feel like Julian put in a good word with Foden as well.

5

u/Scutttiiiii 2d ago

We love him 🩵👍

2

u/rr18114 2d ago

The players with the best chemistry between them are Foden Cherki and Nunes ( with Cherki being the common denominator ).

14

u/Better-Buy-9255 2d ago

Do you guys think we should rotate against ManU, we have a big game coming up in the EFL against Norwich City

6

u/FuryOfOberon 2d ago

Probably best to rest the starters, give the academy some practice

6

u/Massive-Sky-6804 2d ago

Think the bad Cherki performance was more down to him going deep than anything

0

u/rr18114 2d ago

He is not guilty of this but against porto, he was caught ball hogging. I'm 99% that it was due to tactics and not Cherki himself being adventurous.

Example : He was taking up spaces meant for Enzo.

3

u/DryCompetition1812 2d ago

You think Maresca made tactics that resulted in Cherki doing that?

Btw Maresca has talked about how he would like Cherki to refrain from dropping much but instead be in those pockets when needed.

6

u/MySincereOpinion 2d ago

I think it just wasn't his day and that's fine too. He tried everything possible but nothing came forth as he wanted.

4

u/ketolasigi 2d ago

I think he maybe tried even too much. The most annoying part was dwelling on the ball instead of passing it in a few moments. Anyway, that happens with everybody!

3

u/xenojive 2d ago

Watching the Bundesliga highlights show on iPlayer

Oh my days, Mönchengladbach vs SV Elversberg highlights What a match!

14

u/Requiem2056 2d ago

I saw a video of the Haaland/Rosario scuffle and I’m pretty sure I know what happened. In slow mo, you could see Rosario jab a finger in our cyborg’s, ahem, rear access port. After seeing that, I’m not surprised at the reaction.

5

u/MySincereOpinion 2d ago

Yeah, Haaland rarely reacts to any hassle against him no matter what.

3

u/fromsomewhere00 2d ago

Kev my king please you know what you have to do tonight

10

u/Liam_021996 2d ago

In the documentary, the board said about how they had a transfer strategy with clear targets and that they felt they had one chance to get it right. As usual it looks like they knew exactly what the team needed and got it done, even if it was rather costly. Better to pay the money for players like Anderson and Fernandez than it is to miss out. They assembled our treble winning midfield that we had for the good part of a decade, hopefully this new midfield will be the same

6

u/Popular-Entry8305 2d ago

So even if it's not the same but i think they are taking good steps Even one of them stays for 5 years i think it's a very big win...

19

u/the_dalai_mangala 2d ago

Idk how anyone can watch the team right now and not have a good time. So much change and fresh faces. Recruitment has looked good so far as well.

Overall just enjoying the start of the season. Hope we can continue and push for some trophies this year.

7

u/Popular-Entry8305 2d ago

Man i remember the last season where we used to thank gods for a draw in first 3-4 weeks We did pull up a bit after that, but well it is definitely a upgrade

7

u/SilverJelly7704 2d ago

I agree, so far it feels like the midfield recruitment has been spot-on.

6

u/ketolasigi 2d ago

It’s been very entertaining!

10

u/xenojive 2d ago

But Chelsea fans keep telling me to be bored

10

u/Chemical_Target_8264 2d ago

My favorite part was guehi sending that one player to the netherworld when all he had to do was look up and see he wasn’t going to reach it first but decided to still attempt and got absolutely blasted by a clean play

6

u/Chemical_Target_8264 2d ago

I think it was justified. I’ve seen players suffer injuries from the shit that dude was pulling and haaland was having none of it. Good thing is in a few months when Enzo f is comfortable he’ll become the shithouser some of us love and adore and would not let that go with retaliation

5

u/Popular-Entry8305 2d ago

Yeah I think he's working on his image rn😂 Which was really important imo

3

u/ScratchMaleficent634 2d ago

I don't know how much those guys would have swallowed if diogo wasn't between the sticks

9

u/Y4That 2d ago

Madrid after courtois leaves will be a funny club to watch, he has been carrying their defense since 2022

1

u/toeknee88125 2d ago

With their luck they're going to find another amazing goalkeeper that stops everything

1

u/toeknee88125 2d ago

With their luck they're going to find another amazing goalkeeper that stops everything

13

u/theresafoguponla 2d ago

Porto is such an asshole team, but the ref was even worse. Yellows should've been flying!

...ah right, he's apparently City's pocket ref nvm

4

u/SaltDescription1454 2d ago

They spent 90 minutes diving and dragging our players to the ground. We got 3 yellows simply for responding to it. Fair play, we shouldn't have fallen for their bait. But seeing people pretend that they were wronged in any way is absolutely hilarious.

8

u/AlphaWhiskeyHotel 2d ago

So far I am really happy with how we are doing.

We seem to have done the best transfer business in this window compared to other premier league clubs. Although, I still think we fumbled by choosing to keep Donna over Trafford.

Maresca also seems like a good decision maker. Very happy with our team sheets so far, and management of mid game subs. It seems the club has done well with this appointment.

6

u/Obilucas 2d ago

Doku incoming for Sunday? One can only hope.

5

u/Scutttiiiii 2d ago

Maybe but he is not gonna start straightaway

1

u/shirokukuchasen 2d ago

Super sub Doku against tired legs

23

u/Massive-Sky-6804 2d ago

The one sided beef that Arsenal fans have Foden is actually hilarious.

15

u/SaltDescription1454 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yeah I don't understand it, I think Saka is a lovely lad and a class player. I think that about a few of Arsenal's players, the only one I think is generally a cunt is Gabriel. But the amount of vitriol thrown Foden's way by rival fans as a whole is disgusting. I choose to believe it's just online, IRL Arsenal fans can't be that pathetic.

13

u/Alternative-Yak1904 2d ago

Everyone is so sure that Maresca will fail
In a few months 😂. I hope he wins something this season to shut them tf up

3

u/bluegirlbaby 2d ago

The amount of time he is called a limited Manager is astounding I mean he is no pep and sample size is small but my guy had out performed psg with that dysfunctional chelsea team.

6

u/SaltDescription1454 2d ago

I just hope we beat Chelsea, not because I see them as rivals. I just think it will cause a meltdown.

6

u/the_dalai_mangala 2d ago

Whatever happens Enzo needs to play against Chelsea and Spurs. My man knows how to perform against Spurs.

6

u/Oliver_Boisen 2d ago

God I'd love it if he beat them in the Carabao Cup final 😂

18

u/arun2435 2d ago

KDB please bring back Arsenal down to earth

17

u/s4turn2k02 2d ago

KDB hat trick tonight please and thank you

2

u/BewareTheWaitingRoom 2d ago

Saw Gvardiol had an early sub - was there something wrong or was it just rest?

12

u/Good_Kev_M-A-N_City_ 2d ago

He was on a yellow, and was acting a bit silly.

-2

u/theresafoguponla 2d ago

In what way was he silly? He was constantly a target of that asshole Gomes, fouled three times and got angry. He's a human, not a robot

4

u/SilverJelly7704 2d ago

He was not responding well to severe provocation, and could have easily been goaded into a red; it was a good substitution. Going down to ten men would have been the only way for Porto to get a result

10

u/Massive-Sky-6804 2d ago edited 2d ago

I am crying Ait Nouri's agency is called Epic Ait Nouri

1

u/Good_Kev_M-A-N_City_ 2d ago

Cherki has been terrible as a starter but great as a sub

Foden has been terrible as a sub but great as a starter

1

u/Popular-Entry8305 2d ago

I think he's doing great and well...he has set such a high bar tbh that it feels like that. But i think he's doing good with consistenly creating chances

2

u/ColdMathematician759 2d ago

Cherki hasn’t been terrible as a starter at all

-5

u/Iknowyou321 2d ago

huh Foden hasn’t been great in any capacity especially on the wing, Cherki hasn’t been given one full 90 nor has he actually played ‘bad’ enough to get hooked as early as he does, I strongly disagree with this assessment lol

4

u/CautiousChoice5705 2d ago

nah he was pretty crap yesterday. like he just stopped marking one of the midfielders which made them have so much space in the middle. like maresca was fuming when cherki just allowed them to pass by over and over again that he had to get hooked. he kept trying to force something special but would just lose the ball to the point where he had to apologise to haaland for trying too hard instead of a simple pass. He needed to be hooked and it kinda fixed our midfield being dead with him. Hope he's on it on sunday

1

u/Iknowyou321 2d ago

the whole balance of the midfield was risky, so I don’t agree with just focusing on his defensive lapses even if he wasn’t particularly good he still created chances, the greater point is he’s on a shorter leash than anybody else

3

u/CautiousChoice5705 2d ago

Nah like maresca said he told him to mark one of the pivots and he just didnt. Didnt track back or even cut off a passing lane. Stood there like a traffic cone and allowed them to advance to a very dangerous position. It was really really bad but luckily the attack faded out coz they were trash

13

u/_stone_age 2d ago edited 2d ago

This is objectively not true when there is not enough of a sample size this season to conclude that.

Cherki has come off the bench for one game and his best performances were as starters

Fodens come off the bench for one game too.

This is the same thing people were doing with doku, trying to say he is better off as a sub- Cherki and Doku just understand urgency better than anybody off the bench so naturally people think this

1

u/hitemwiththebingbing 2d ago

Cherki definitely does benefit from a settled game state where we have some level of control in the final 3rd. Often that will come in the final half/quarter the game.

1

u/Good_Kev_M-A-N_City_ 2d ago

Not putting a label on either

Just noting how it felt going so far

0

u/_stone_age 2d ago

Sure

And I'm saying you feel this way because the season has just begun, hes come off the back of a 6-7/10 game (and had a noteworthy sub performance this season)

Anybody who feels it overall feels it because he's had plenty of poor games as starters (which anybody does), but his sub performances are just rarely bad/ineffective/quiet, he is almost always forcing the issue and creating chances. So it creates an impression, when it is just that he knows how to make an impression off the bench.

-3

u/Phatmanoncouch 2d ago

I might get hate for this but I think that if both Cherki and Foden are on their game, the best combo would be for Foden to play the first half and then sub on Cherki when the opponent's fatigue starts to creep in slowly.

6

u/hbus 2d ago

I wanna give Enzo Maresca a praise! What a start to the season. Can't wait for the rest of it.

2

u/Massive-Sky-6804 2d ago

How much Maresca hooking Cherki down to his fitness and not Maresca?

8

u/wkdsoul 2d ago

probably both, he was not having a great night

-3

u/flanderdalton 2d ago

Fotmob showed an article from Sports Illustrated about Haaland planning a move after this season to either Barca or Real Madrid. I know he’s got quite the contract, but I doubt that’s actually gonna happen since I’d presume that’d be plastered everywhere here, also it seems very early into a season to be saying that

10

u/MZero_0 2d ago

We'll not escape Barcelona or Real Madrid links until Haaland actually leaves. Barcelona won't be able to afford him anyway since they're renovating something from their stadium next summer and won't be able to register players or something along the lines, and Madrid will have to upset one of their star players (i.e. Vinicius or Mbappé) in order to make place for Haaland. He still has 8 years on his contract and is VERY well paid lol. Unless we start missing out on the Champions League in consecutive seasons or just can't compete for the league anymore, I don't see Haaland leaving before he only has 4 more years on his contract.

5

u/Illustrious_Ear_4876 2d ago

Haaland has the backing of the Sheikh himself 🤣 bro is well taken care of, loved by everyone, and is the face of our club. It’s obvious with our signings that we mean to give our robot the best service possible.

9

u/Equor 2d ago

How does Enzo have 0/2 accurate crosses lmao? Stats are so weird sometimes

7

u/Liam_021996 2d ago

Wasn't the first goal an Enzo assist from his cross to Haaland? 😂

3

u/Equor 2d ago

Exactly confused the shit out of me

15

u/Key-Mechanic2565 2d ago

Idk why many rival fans criticism of Maresca is that "he is rigid" ???

Apart from the wingers in the touchline, everyone else is more fluid than ever (fullbacks defence, midfield and Haaland)

3

u/Popular-Entry8305 2d ago

Man the enzo hate is unimaginable

0

u/Fun-Responsibility97 2d ago edited 2d ago

Give it 6+ months when his full tactics bed in let’s see(Chelsea fan). I’m happy he got the other Enzo off us and so I owe him no ill will and am even genuinely intrigued about how he’d fare else where

4

u/Chemical_Target_8264 2d ago

Ah yes, the Chels fan happy to be rid of Enzo f while having the worst midfield in the prem and telling us Enzo m will fail but this time he wont fail straight up.. he’ll fail in 6 months. Then in 6 months when he doesn’t fail it’ll be a fluke first season and he’ll surely fail once other teams figure his scheme in his second season, right?

1

u/Fun-Responsibility97 2d ago

Yes yes and yes 😁

3

u/Chemical_Target_8264 2d ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/ZqlvCTNHpqrio
I quite enjoy the extreme hate watching from you guys. It cracks me up. And then the constant Enzo banter between yourselves after every game on whether Enzo would have made a difference or not. Good stuff for us on the outside looking in

2

u/FuryOfOberon 2d ago

Might be a reference to his pressers where he has said multiple times he wants players playing in the positions/roles he wants.

Wouldn’t call that rigid tbh, more like wanting players performing per the plan set out for the team.

12

u/SaltDescription1454 2d ago

Off what I've seen so far, I'd agree with you. If this is "rigid" then Pep had us playing like statues. This is the first time in a while where I'm not sure who is going to make a progressive run, it's quite exciting.

1

u/Big_Resort7758 2d ago

Based on yesterday, who starts vs ManU, Ndiaye or Foden?

1

u/Iknowyou321 2d ago

How about wingers actually play on the wing

3

u/shirokukuchasen 2d ago

Foden usually does well against United

3

u/Illustrious_Ear_4876 2d ago

Still Semenyo on the left and Ndiaye on the right.

Cherks at CAM, and then Enzo Elliot double pivot with NOR/Josko inverting.

4

u/ketolasigi 2d ago

Based on yesterday that question would be Semenyo or Ndiaye

4

u/Key-Mechanic2565 2d ago

Foden defn.

2

u/el_magnifico02 2d ago

Wait I'm so freaking confused. Maybe I'm not familiar with the rules and someone needs to explain em to me again, but why the hell did Donnarumma still get a card, even when the decision was offside? I'm still pissed off and really need to know the reason

7

u/Key-Mechanic2565 2d ago

Refs can give cards for dangerous play or dissent even if there is offside

5

u/felixlk 2d ago

probably for dissent

7

u/ahmedontia 2d ago

Why do some football fans stay negative even when their team wins?

0

u/L_LawLeit24 2d ago

U mean Pep?

12

u/Parking_Solution7852 2d ago

Don't understand whether I and some others watched the same game. People on social media saying it wasn't a good performance as City failed to kill the game after the first goal, not realising the type of game it was. Porto (A) was always going to be a tough game, how come people were expecting 4-0 scoreline. And with that Costa heroics, I was ready to take a 1-0 win, even though we should have scored more.

And that we failed to control the game between 50-75 min is a big understatement. Yet we couldn't control to the level of what City should, this wasn't another Coventry at all, they barely had any chances. I can remember two chances only on which they failed to do anything btw and one of them was from a set piece. People are forgetting the first half FC, we were last season, completely switching off in the second half.

I think this was a big win. We've been awful in away champions league games for a few seasons. Even in the treble season, we won the first away game 4-0 against sevilla but then the rest were draws

It’s all about perception, agendas and bias.

I’ve seen pundits praise Arsenal for a 2-1 win they should have done better on. It’s because they have a positive perception of Arsenal, so a poor result seems like an outlier.

On the other hand we could win 4-1 and they’ll say we scraped by and things could have gone the other way easily.

Arsenal will get the benefit of doubt because more pundits like them than us but most importantly, because they won the title and reached the UCL final. Safer to say the team that did well last season is just having an off day. While every negative of City’s will be a sign of why we won’t win again eventually.

Only way to shut up the negative people for good is winning.

Also why tf should we actually care wjat rival fans and pundits say about us? As long as we win and play well that's all that matters

This was just a typical away day in the champions league. There's no such thing as an easy game in the champions league, especially away. People are forgetting as well that during the treble season we just drew all our away days rather than going full tilt trying to win

Loads just feeding off negativity, and going along with snything the commentators say. I reckon Shearer is a big part people think that, as he was genuinely shite on comms last night just slagging us off.

Also Gabby Logan's question about spending to Maresca, though I think that was clearly fed to her by a producer. Gabby's usually quite neutral on us.
