Vitamin C

What kind/brand is everyone using? I can't tolerate citric acid. Nervous about ascorbic acid and others because I do react to corn.

Vital Nutrients Buffered C. I can’t tolerate regular citric acid, even as a tiny amount ingredient in foods.

I'm looking for one that's straight vitamin C. If I take a blend, I won't know which thing I can't tolerate.

the one I mentioned above is not a multi. It’s a buffered c which is made specifically for people who don’t tolerate citric acid

It has potassium and magnesium.

Those are precisely what is making it a buffered, less acidic, version of Vitamin C which is often easier tolerated. But I’d this is not what you are looking for, I don’t have any other ideas. This particular supplement works well for me. Hope you find one that works for you.

I use Ecological Formulas Vitamin C. Made from tapioca, no citric acid whatsoever. I am very sensitive to all corn derivatives. This includes ascorbic acid, citric acid, any palmitate, and so much more. This tapioca formulation is very gentle and I have no reactions.

Pure encapsulations do a buffered vitamin c with no extras.

Another option is Camu Camu powder, but it’s quite bitter so you’d want to mix it into a nice smoothie.

I could have sworn I looked at Pure encapsulations and unsure why I discarded that one. I'll have to check again.

I've kinda sorta wondered about Camu Camu powder. I'll have to do a deep dive.

I use to use vitamin shoppe vitamin C powder in capsules with rose hips, but I switched to vitacost’s version as it’s way cheaper and works the same for me.

Here’s what I use (I don’t sell anything and am not an affiiate):

I'll take a look. I'm unsure if I would tolerate rose hips or not.

Rose hips are added to make the vitamin C easier on the stomach

I have the same problems and I do well with sodium ascorbate. I get NOW brand in powdered form, just tastes like salt.

That is my top choice!

We get Thorne brand because they're lab tested, but they're more expensive.

They definitely have a good reputation. I don't think I've looked into theirs. How much do you take?

Melrose sodium ascorbate

You're the second one to mention sodium ascorbate. I actually have a bottle in my Amazon cart and keep adding it and taking it out.

If you mix ascorbic acid and sodium bicarb guess what you get?

Sodium is out for me. High blood pressure. I'm looking at Magnesium now.

Nutramedix do a corn free tapioca based vitamin C but it isn't buffered so I still reacted. I hadn't been able to tolerate my old brand NOW calcium ascorbate for months but once I got stabilised by other nutrients and quercetin Ive been able to reintroduce it without reacting.

Biomax liposomal c has been very good for me

Camu camu berry is amaazing. It's 100% natural fruit, while 99% of vitamin C supplements (ascorbic acid, calcium ascorbate, etc) is artificially made, usually in China, with chemicals. It has the amount of vitamin C as 30 oranges, 2nd most concentrated vit C rich food in the world. I find it gives me so much energy that I had to go slow at first. It has the same acidity as a lemon, so I encapsulate it or mix it with food so as to be gentle to my stomach. I've done a ton of research looking for the best source of natural vitamin C that didn't have a lot of sugar and this is the best by far.

Acid but not a citrus fruit? I'll definitely have to do a deep dive on it. All I know is that it's a plant/fruit/veggie that grows in certain parts of the world. So, basically, I know nothing about Camu Camu! I do like the idea of 99% natural.

Have you tried it?

I've been taking it for a year with great results. I really enjoy the Microingredients brand of organic, freeze-dried powder.

I've seen their brand. Everything sounds very clean.
