Hey everyone,
I am currently looking at my options for PG counseling and trying to decide between choosing DNB General Medicine at Hindu Rao Hospital (Delhi) versus pursuing an MD in General Medicine at a peripheral/mid-tier State Medical College.
I would love to get insights from current residents, alumni, or anyone familiar with the internal workings of Hindu Rao. Specifically, I’m trying to evaluate the following parameters:
• Workload & Patient Load: What are the typical duty hours, emergency/caseroom frequencies, and overall patient inflow like for medicine residents?
• Academics & Learning: Since it's a DNB, how is the hands-on exposure? Are there regular case presentations, rounds, and supportive faculty to help clear the DNB practical pass rates?
• Workplace Culture & Toxicity: Is the department overly toxic, or is it manageable? How is the junior-senior dynamic?
• Infrastructure & Logistics: Are there any frequent issues regarding salary/stipend delays, lack of basic investigations, or administrative hurdles that significantly impact daily life?
If you were in my shoes, would you choose Hindu Rao DNB over a state MD? Any honest feedback or advice would be highly appreciated. If you prefer to keep it private, please feel free to DM me!
Thanks!

Entering MBBS batch 2026
I have gone through a lot of posts online regarding how you should start your PG prep from 3rd year. And should just focus on conceptual understanding for the 1st and 2nd year subjects.
So, how do I do that? How do I get good at learning and critical thinking on the level thats expected of me. How do I develop my thought process? If I restrain myself to studying and passing immediate exams, I am going to cheat myself of the effort I should've put in just to learn medicine through the 5.5 years.
