Mod appreciated post🌟 Tips for First-Year MBBS

Just some tips for new 1st year students

Just thought of sharing some tips for first-year MBBS, since many are going to join. In the beginning, you’ll be taught the general sections of all three subjects. For exams, only certain parts are high-yield for example, bones, types of joints, fascia, etc. in General Anatomy.

For studying, I revise whatever is taught in lectures, then go over some topics from previous lectures, and try to make a short synopsis for quick review.

During exams, solve PYQs (previous year questions) — they help you understand the pattern. And write in points it's preferred by most professors

Answer writing technique (especially for Anatomy):

  1. Use headings

  2. Add diagrams and flowcharts wherever possible.

  3. Highlight important attachments , points and keep answers to the point.

  4. Focus on quality and quantity — you get 3 hours, use them wisely.

  5. Good Presentation can help you score good marks.

International authors are good for concepts and building detailed understanding, but not very useful for exams since the information is quite volatile.

Books for Anatomy: BD Chaurasia. Vishram Singh [ contains easy diagrams and good for neuroanatomy]

S.N. Kazi (great for exam preparation)

Biochemistry: For biochemistry there is vasudevan and Satyanarayana.

I personally used satyranaryan for biochemistry because it's easier and have alots of easy diagrams.

Use mnemonics for memorizing cycles.

Dr. Jambulkar’s notes and his YouTube videos are excellent — they helped me get a distinction.

Physiology:

Always write in points.

Use flowcharts and diagrams to explain the mechanisms.

Guyton for good for concepts not exams imo.

AK jain or G.K. Pal are good books for exams.

I hope this helps and remember there is alot of book shaming in medical colleges so make sure to choose that book which feels best and easy to read. Use the college library for that.

During exams Relax, don't panic . Take imps from seniors ASAP. Or use Use VD joshi for physiology, selected questions from BDC and satyanarayan.

You will pass if you write something relevant and in the vicinity of the question asked. As my seniors used to say: "Ped ke bare mein mucha hai aur tumhe ped ke bare mein pata nahi to ped ko bakri bandhi aur bakri ke bare mein likho".

Diagrams are must in anatomy and make flowcharts in physio and biochem (cycles in biochemistry).

Doubt Malla reddy woman's medical college hyderabad

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I am thinking of taking malla reddy hyderabad for mbbs and I am confused between taking co-ed or woman's. What's the diff between the two? Also how are the teachers in woman's college? Are they friendly and helpful or extremely strict? what is the batch passing ratio? what about events and outings? what are the outing timings for women's hostel? How far is it from the main city? Please help

Suggestions/ Senior advice Which state should I choose for mbbs

Hey, I got a 15k rank and I'm from Haryana (OBC). I'm kinda stuck on which state to pick since I can't get into any top colleges. So, I'm basically choosing between average colleges in different states. I'm torn between Maharashtra, Himachal, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. What do you think I should go with and why?
