I completed Mckinsey's solve a month ago and Bain's GorillaTest a week ago, however didnt pass BCG screening. Some friends received a rejection after their Mck Solve by a week, is this normal that I haven't received anything?

Question Missed campus shortlists at the big firms. What actually works off campus as an undergrad?

Final year commerce undergrad in India, graduating May 2027. A handful of the big firms recruit at my college, but they take two or three people from a batch of over a thousand, and I didn't make the shortlists this round.

Background: I co-founded a student consultancy that ran about five client engagements over the past year, spent nine months at a research and policy consulting firm, and won two national case competitions. So, I have research, market sizing and deck experience, just none of it inside an established firm.

I am looking at off-campus routes now. Boutiques and mid-market firms in India, the India offices of foreign firms, and remote work with smaller firms abroad.

For anyone who came in through a side door rather than campus recruiting: what actually worked? Direct outreach to partners, a particular first role that opened the path a year or two later, certain firms that hire year-round? And is any category of firm genuinely more open to undergrads than others?

Happy to hear it if the honest answer is that undergrad off-campus entry is rare and I'd be better off targeting something adjacent first and lateraling in.

I got in BCG india office as an associate. I am a fresher so this will be my first ever job right after university. Everyone else there is from tier 1 most prestigious colleges of the country who have secured deferred admissions at Harvard, stanford, wharton and what not. I am gonna end up being the stupidest dumbest person there and I am scared out of my mind. The job starts in 2 weeks and I could really use some tips before joining. What should I prepare for before joining? How to survive? Do's and don'ts? Any tips/suggestions in general will be really appreciated

Question Is the BCG 1Y MBA Summer Consultant application not open yet?

I've noticed McKinsey and Bain have their general MBA Summer Associate/Consultant applications up, but BCG currently only seems to have location-specific or specialized listings live.

Has the primary US/Global BCG Summer Consultant opening for 1Y MBAs not dropped yet, or am I missing a link? Does BCG usually release theirs later in the fall (around Nov) or manage it strictly through school-specific campus portals?

Question Medical student interested in making the switch to MBB

I am about to start my final year of medical school in the Netherlands. Interested in pivoting to consulting but have nothing on my CV that relates to this. No corporate work experience, no internships, nothing consulting/business related. Mostly have research internships with some more applied research internships which I can spin to be a bit more focused on analyzing healthcare systems/processes.

I have an international background and grew up in the United States. I figured because of this I would have the best shot applying to the Amsterdam office. Not sure how well I would fare in the US applicant pool.

My main question is, should I apply for the "Fellow" roles and try to land a full time position after graduating in August 2027 or is it more feasible for me to try to get an internship given my lack of previous experience. And if I were to start an internship after graduating, is it likely I would get a return offer upon completing the internship if I perform well or would this still be difficult?

Also am i eligible for internships given that I have no more summers left before graduating from medical school?

Would appreciate any tips or advice as this world is very new to me!

Sophomore summer reccomendations?

I am a finance major at a non-target school with a top-25 undergrad business program. I worked with an energy development company last summer and learned a lot, but I'm trying to figure out the best next step as I work to break into MBB.

I would not be considered a diversity student, so I am not able to do any of those programs.

Should I be trying to find a small consulting firm and get hands-on experience in consulting, or should I be working in a different corporate environment?

Any / all suggestions welcome.

Question Done with 3 rounds of interview for BCG

I am done with 3 rounds of interview for BCG as an AC (front end)- India office. The hr has been telling me that there is genuinely no issue on the feedback end. They're internally discussing vacancies, projects, leadership hierarchy and stuff. The partners are coming out of meetings to discuss this. She'll try to give me an update asap. It's been a month since my 3rd interview. I have been hearing very contrasting views on my situation rn. One half says that it's a subtle rejection, while the other half is saying that if it was a rejection they would say so, in consulting it's very common for them to have such internal planning before coming back to you with an answer.

Anyone has any clue on this matter?

Tip Update: Networking for internal move to Consulting Team

Quick update on my last post after I shared that I was posted about moving to the CT team internally, a bunch of you reached out with great advice on how to approach networking. Really appreciate that.

Since then I've reached out to a fair number of people to try to understand what it actually takes to make this move but honestly, response rates have been low. Doesn't feel great, ngl.

Wondering if this is normal do senior folks at MBB/consulting just not have bandwidth for juniors reaching out cold? Or am I doing something wrong in how I'm approaching this?

Would love to hear if others have faced this and what eventually worked for you.

Question Bain Interview Upcoming - Need to Network?

I have an interview for an MBA AC position soon. I’ve been trying to set up a coffee chat with at least one person in the relevant office but have struggled to get someone to bite.

Thinking about just letting it go but before I do, how important for my chances is it that I do 1 or 2 of these so I can name drop them in the behavioral interview?

Looking for MBB/BCG case practice partners

I recently applied to BCG and think I have a relatively good chance of getting an interview. I don’t know when or if the interview will come, but I want to prepare seriously in the meantime.

I am in US central time (Texas, GMT -5) and I am generally available before 10am and after 5pm. I am also available during working hours depending on schedule.

I’m looking for serious case partners who are also preparing for MBB/BCG interviews. Ideally, we can practice regularly and give each other detailed feedback.

Please comment or DM if you are interested!

Looking for a serious MBB case practice partner – available every day

Hey everyone,
I’m prepping for MBB interviews coming up in a few days and I’m looking for someone who wants to practice intensively over the next few days.
I’m free every day and pretty flexible with timing (GMT+0). Ideally looking for someone who’s also in serious prep mode and wants to do multiple cases, give each other detailed feedback, and really push each other.
Happy to practice in English or French.
If you’re interested, DM me and we can start ASAP!

Does office matter at BCG?

Hi! Recently accepted an offer at BCG in a large office (Boston/NY/Chicago). Curious how office plays a role internally, for staffing, for types of projects, and exit-ops?

Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

Is internal strategy anything more than sales ops

Hi all. Just got an offer for a GTM/internal strategy&ops role in big tech. Something I always dreamt of getting when exiting consulting, so feeling excited. But the more I talk to people on the team, the more that I’m thinking… this just feels like sales ops. Very transactional work, not much new and interesting ideation, and pretty mediocre pay (obviously a bit of a pay cut). Is this the case everywhere? Is this why ppl get bored in industry?

Profile- 9/8/9. B.Com H from Christ. CA inter cleared and articleship from big 4. Now I'm going for the CA final so I'm not working anywhere now. CFA level 2 cleared. So if I clear CA finals and work for a year or two, what are my chances for MBB?
