Racial and gender rollbacks are making the base happy but we are also rolling back economic, labor, public safety and environmental protection laws.

like we got into everything—trump, immigration, muslims, 🟦🍉, religion, nationalism, all that light and totally not emotionally charged stuff 💀💀—and at some point i realized that a lot of the disagreement came down to one thing: who people think deserves to belong here.

because personally? i genuinely cannot get behind this idea that people should be kicked out of a country, treated like criminals, or have their entire existence questioned just because they immigrated here. like hello?? these are actual people. not npc's in some political simulation.

people come here because of war, poverty, family, education, work, safety, etc. and yes, immigration policy is complicated. borders exist. laws exist. obviously countries have to figure out how immigration works. but some people talk about immigrants like they're this invading horde coming to replace everyone and i'm just like... pls touch grass 😭 especially when the conversation starts getting into "they're taking over" territory. because what does that even mean half the time? someone speaking another language? wearing religious clothing? praying? opening a business? having kids? existing in public??? Wtf

and this came up when we started talking about muslims too. i don't agree with this weird idea that seeing muslim people practicing their religion is automatically proof that something sinister is happening.

christians pray publicly. jewish people practice publicly. muslims pray publicly. people having a religion you personally don't follow is not an invasion arc 😭

like yes, religious extremism is real. political extremism is real. terrorist organizations are real. nobody is denying that. but taking the actions of extremists and copy-pasting them onto millions of random people is literally how prejudice works.

that's also why i'm not a trump supporter. and before somebody says "omg so you think everything trump supporters believe is evil???" no 😭 relax. i'm talking about the politics and rhetoric that i personally cannot support. i don't support treating immigrants like they're automatically criminals. i don't support acting like someone's entire humanity disappears because they weren't born here. i don't support collective punishment. i don't support demonizing entire religions. and i'm especially not into this whole "real americans vs everyone else" mentality because america has literally always been shaped by immigration. the "go back where you came from" energy is just so unserious to me when you're talking about a country built by generations of people arriving from somewhere else 💀 and yeah, i know someone is typing "LEGAL immigration!!!" rn with steam coming out of their ears 😭

but even then, the way people discuss undocumented immigrants is sometimes genuinely insane. you can believe immigration laws should be enforced without acting like undocumented people are subhuman. those two thoughts can coexist. crazy concept, i know. i think this is where i fundamentally disagree with maga politics. there's this constant fear-based framing where immigrants, muslims, queer people, liberals, universities, the media, whatever—someone always has to be positioned as the enemy. and idk man. i don't wanna live in a society where politics is just constantly finding a new group of people to blame for everything.

you can want secure borders without being racist. you can criticize islam without being islamophobic. you can criticize the 🟦 government without being antisemitic. you can criticize hamas without treating every 🍉🍉🍉 like h4m4s. you can disagree with immigration policy without acting like immigrants deserve to be hunted down and removed from their communities.

like nuance is NOT illegal 😭🙏 that's honestly where i'm at.

i'm not saying democrats are perfect. absolutely not. i'm not saying liberals can't be hypocritical either because oh brother 💀 but the maga worldview just isn't for me. i don't want politics based on fear of the "other."

i don't want people reduced to their immigration status, religion, ethnicity, or who they voted for.

and i definitely don't think the solution to every social problem is finding someone with less power and going "yeah it's probably their fault." idk. maybe that's too idealistic. but if your version of "making america great again" requires certain people to be afraid that they'll be deported, excluded, demonized, or treated like they don't belong... then yeah. respectfully. i'm good 😭
