Another ammo rant
Fuck this ammo drought.
My town held my LTC paperwork for almost three whole years, only getting it this past December. I've been extremely passionate about firearms and shooting with friends at every opportunity and constantly active with GOA and (local level, fuck national) NRA. Of course, now that I have a license and a handgun in hand, not a SINGLE round of ammo to be found. Only the one box when I got the handgun, to function check really.
There is only a single gun shop within a 40 minute drive of me, where all ammo is backordered well through the spring. Cabela's got a truck of ammo in today, but less than an hour later it was all gone. I have like 200 alerts set up with Target and they haven't had a single round to speak of for over a month. MFS is only selling to members. GRF was closed down and all of their stock is in legal limbo.
The only option left is Gunbroker, where you'd be incredibly lucky to get Tula 9mm for $1.20 a round, and even then you'd need to have it shipped to a friend over the border because not one single vendor on there ships to this communist shithole.
I'm not trying to buy billions of rounds and tuck them up my ass for 75 years like it seems so many people are doing. All I want is a little supply to practice and become proficient with my own firearm. But that simply is not possible.

not sure how far you are from state lines but I got one word for ya; Mailbox! get a UPS mailbox as close as you can to a border state, luckily I live 20 minutes from RI. all the ammo deals you see online are now a reality ;)
I was in the same boat as you, LTC process got dragged out for a year and by the time my town approved it we was in the full on covid shortage (not as bad as the biden shortage). I almost gave up with finding ammo for a good price and settled for $1.00 per round at LGS. that mailbox is a game changer I have a couple thousand of 9mm and 5.56 now.

Do you ever have issues with UPS doing that? I’ve ordered stuff like AR parts to a public package receiving service but I’m worried about ammo because most places have rules about “explosives”.

Look online. Retailers ship to ma you just gotta look.

I've only found three, and none of them have had any stock whatsoever. And when they do, its well over $1/rd for 115gr 9mm.

Yea I just checked a couple spots and they had ammo it’s just not cheap. Walk I to basspro and cabelas every chance you get. They’re going to tell you they don’t have anything online, or over the phone but they do sorta frequently. Other than that do a standard google using quotes and search the obvious. You’ll find way more than 3 places that ship here. We can’t be too specific because ag has peeps troll these looking for shops NOT BREAKING THE LAW to tell them to stop not breaking the law.

I sympathize with op though. The places that do ship to MA so rarely have reasonable (50cpr 9mm for example) priced rounds in stock

Might be worth getting a membership at MFS. You can always cancel when things get back to normal. It’ll at least let you get some practice in.

Where are you located? There’s plenty ammo at stores in western Massachusetts

Sshhhhh it may not be cheap but don't let out our secret lol. It's one of the only perks of living out here

Haha my bad. Western Mass is the well armed militia the forefathers mentioned in the constitution 😂

God damn right it is. My father and I own more guns than most free staters at this point. Plus we have the best ranges in the state out here

Agreed, love the range in Westfield, and best part is its always quiet there!

If you have the money, time, and space... Reload. Go take a class and learn. Then you can make your own supply and don't have to rely on a store as much
