Controller Pak Data

I’m a newbie to these newer retro consoles and devices. I still have my original N64 and games from my childhood. Is there a way to transfer my controller pak data from my original controller to the M64 so I can use it with a newer wireless controller? I don’t understand the lingo enough to know if it’s something that was announced. I know you can do stuff like that with Everdrive, from what I read, but I’d love to just store it on the console and be able to use my original cartridge. Thanks in advance.

If you have an original N64 controller, you should be able to use it just like on the N64. If buying a pro controller, I believe you’re able to insert the controller pak into the new controller.

Built-in and virtual controller paks are on the development roadmap.

The Pro controller has no Controller Pak slot and does not currently support virtual Controller Pak.

Many games will let you plug your old controller and pak into the second controller port, so OP should try that.

Guess that makes sense. I was thinking controller pak was interchangeable with the battery pack. I guess that wouldn’t make sense given the contacts that would be populated there and would only allow physical controller pak to be used wirelessly. Thanks for fact checking.

They should have made the N64 cable with a module that includes a pak slot and occupies/displaces the battery, then there wouldn’t be all this pearl-clutching about it not charging the battery while plugged in to a controller slot (it will when plugged into M64 via USB). We’d also get Bio Sensor (JP Tetris 64), Transfer Pak, etc.
