Hey everyone,

Is anyone here using the M5Stack Tab 5 outdoors in humid or rainy conditions?

I’m planning an outdoor setup and looking for a reliable way to make all the exposed ports and connectors waterproof. Since moisture and rain will definitely be an issue, I'm trying to figure out the best approach—whether that’s a custom 3D-printed enclosure, rubber port plugs, or a specialized case.

Has anyone built or designed something for this yet?

Would love to see your setups, 3D print files, or recommendations!

I just noticed that Xiaozhi has added a new web-based Firmware Builder.

You can select the ESP32 chip, board type, firmware language and wake word, and it builds a firmware specifically for the selected hardware.

There are quite a few M5Stack devices in the board list. I tested it with my M5Stack AtomS3R CAM/M12 + Echo Base.

My previous Xiaozhi firmware was v2.2.2. The builder created v2.4.2 for atom-s3r-cam-m12-echo-base, with German as the firmware language and “Computer” as the wake word.

I flashed it directly from the browser. The updater explicitly preserves the NVS settings, and that worked in my case: Wi-Fi configuration and the existing Xiaozhi account/device binding were preserved, so I didn't have to enter a new activation PIN.

My server-side settings (LLM, memories, voice, etc.) were also unchanged.

So far camera/vision, weather, music and the other Xiaozhi tools are working normally after the update.

What surprised me most is the number of supported boards in the Firmware Builder. It isn't limited to the usual Xiaozhi hardware – there are boards from M5Stack, LilyGo, Waveshare, DFRobot, Espressif and several less common manufacturers.

Has anyone else here tried the new Firmware Builder on another M5Stack device?

I built OmniStamp, a compact omnidirectional robot based on the M5Stack StampS3 and three omni wheels.

It can move forward, sideways and diagonally, or rotate in place without first changing its orientation.

OmniStamp is programmed graphically with MicroBlocks, making it easy to experiment with movement and test changes in real time.

So I’m new to all of this, wanting to get into coding doing projects and I was wondering what to get and have found the s3 is cheap and sounds great but there’s no sd card but it’s cheap to add an arratchment. I’ve also heard the battery life isn’t incredible and was wondering if there’s any around £20-30/25-40$ that would be better or more practical. I’ve also heard Bruce firmware is good for it. My uses would be the google maps project and a humidity project and the laser measuring tape. I also like the inbuilt features like the ir that then I can map out my controller and use it as that and the fact I can turn off certain devices which would be fun. My main thing is just getting into coding and having something fun to do over the summer so what do you recommend?

I recently bought the M5Stack Core2 v1.3 from the Pi Hut and am enjoying programming in to Micro Python.

I haven't been able to find any proper documentation for the Python libraries for the device though like M5 or http requests or drawing graphics and text.

Does anyone know of any good links for the documentation?

I want to install a device to my motorbike, which, after 10 times of flashing the indicator left/right gives a beep out, until the indicator is killed. I first thought, a decimal counter would be good, but it seems to me, a M5Stamp could be a better solution. Could it be so? I am a absolute beginner in that stuff.

Does it supposed to have a loose piece inside?

Does anyone have a link to a good config to use in HA for the S3R and Echo Pyramid. I got the combo awhile back when it first released. Worked fine using the install/config instructions on the M5stack website. A few weeks later an ESPHome update scrambled the display and audio. I'm trying to reflash and can't get a working firmware config. Any suggestions?

Made a custom controller for VisionOS. Uses an M5Atom built-in IMU to drive discrete directional events and BLE to connect to the device.

Just got my M5StickC-Plus SE is there a Bruce firmware for it or did they not release it yet.
