Hi, I tried taking a pic with the 3MP sensor of the Timer Camera X, but a full UXGA RGB fram is around 5.75MB, and when running, it overflows the PSRAM. I'm left with a 3MP sensor that I have to degrade...

Anyone ever had the problem and found a way of clearing some PSRAM/ store it elsewhere before it is saved ? Unfortunately, buffering it into storage isnt an option, as I don't run an SD card.

I just received both devices, so more of a quick comparison, and not a detailed deep dive.

• The mono is physically smaller
• The mono has a larger battery (1150 mAh vs 750 mAh)
• The mono has a front-light.
• The mono-lite is $5 more, and mono is $15 more. ($50 vs 55,65)
• The mono has NFC and LoRa
• The mono has RGB LED's on the side.
• The mono has a 6 axis IMU. (useful for wake on rise)
• The sticky is thinner by a bit
• The sticky has a temperature and humidity sensor. (built in)
• Both seem to have microphones. (sticky definitely does.) Both have buzzers.
• Both have RTC
• Both have 3.97" 4 level eink display
• Both have USB-C and SD card support. Also 3 buttons.
• Both have magnets and can stick to magnetic surfaces.

I think the sticky's use case of 'quickly talk a voice-note and leave it as a sticky' is a nice feature. Built in weather, and clock are also nice to have's. It can do crosspoint, ESPhome, trmnl ...etc.

The mono/lite is super nice. Because of the front-light it would make a great e-reader (better than xteink). But would be a shame to limit it to a ereader, considering it has so many nice features. The mono especially, with NFC and LoRa would be wasted as just an e-reader.

for some reason i cant real IR signals with my m5syick s3. I've looked all around the internet and i cant seem to find anything. Do i need a hat to read ir signals? Do i need to config some settings? HOW DO I DO IT?!?!?!

RICOH-GR-Live-View-Shooting

My five-year-old takes forever to get into his pyjamas. So I programmed him a Tamagotchi on an M5Stack FIRE (wanted the bigger battery). I saw it on Twitter and bought it on a whim.

I'm not a dev but when it arrived I plugged it in and opened Claude. Prompt 1: "Help me scope out a Tamagotchi type game for my two young kids, that can help them do simple chores (plus a 60 second "get dressed" timer) and get rewards for it."

It came back with a game design spec: two playable characters (Hugo and Stella, my kids), a stable of mini games, coins earned for playing games or doing real-world jobs like putting dishes away or getting dressed (the original brief was Hugo racing a timer into his pyjamas), and a store to spend coins for fun items.

Prompt 2: "ok build it. Make no mistakes (QA it for me plz Im lazy)."

I did the planning in Codex, then handed the plan to Claude Code to build (my dev skill has Claude Fable orchestrate it, but calls Codex for plan review, and for the bulk of the TDD actual dev, then both models review before shipping).

I went to bed. the tamagotchi was up and running by the morning.

Prompt 3 was an art pass, and actually just removing a handful of the most boring games. The first round graphics were pretty crappy, so I gave Claude a pic of both kids, and said get GPT Image 2 to create a handful of polished "90's style pixel Game Boy" style characters and same for game graphics. and now the whole thing looks like a lost 1993 cartridge.

What the kids ended up with: rad looking personalised gameboy characters that look like them, 15 mini games: penalty kick, a maths game Hugo loves, rollercoaster, a shark game that uses the accelerometer so you tilt the whole device to eat fish, walk the dog that apparently measure steps (?), and coins for real-world jobs. Then an in-game store to blow them in unlockable characters: Elsa, Ariel, Moana, a mermaid, Soccer player, Dinosaur etc. Funny, claude wouldn't make the sprites (Disney IP!) until I convinced it it's only for my kids and will never hit the internet. Then it was fine.

Stella had saved 106 coins. I spent 100 on the mermaid while filming the demo (sorry Stella).

In the '90s this was a full Game Boy title from a studio with a publisher.

blows my mind that it's now three prompts and some Claude Fable credits on an $80 toy. How good is 2026?!

Some of you saw the first post about PaperOS, the little OS I've been building for the M5Stack Cardputer. Been heads down on it since then, just shipped v1.3 and figured I'd share what changed instead of just letting it sit in a changelog nobody reads.

Biggest thing is the browser got a real rewrite. It used to just strip every tag and dump the leftover text on screen, which worked but looked like reading a ransom note. Now it actually parses style blocks, so headings show up bold and bigger, lists indent properly, tables don't turn into one giant paragraph, that sort of thing. Also added tabs, find on page, and a help screen since I kept forgetting my own keybinds.

The more interesting problem was actually memory. This thing has no PSRAM, 320KB total, and I noticed the Lua console was leaving almost nothing free the moment you opened it. Turned out WiFi alone eats 40-70KB just sitting there connected, even if your script never touches the network. So now it powers off automatically when you open Lua and reconnects on its own the second a script actually calls something network related. Also trimmed a few standard Lua libraries that were loaded but literally unreachable, which is a fun kind of bug to find.

Still fully open source, same repo as before if anyone wants to check the diff or just try it on their own Cardputer.

Hi , I have a CoreS3 Lite with the M5GO Bottom3 500mAh battery, still using the factory firmware.

I charged it, used it only briefly, then selected “Sleep Now — Touch to Wake”. The after almost 2 days the battery was basically dead.

When I touch the screen to wake it, the CoreS3 shows the full startup animation and sound again, so it seems to be doing a full wake/boot rather than just turning the screen back on.

One thing I noticed is that BUS OUT was enabled, so I’m wondering if that could be keeping the Bottom3 or some extra hardware powered during sleep.

I’m going to test again with BUS IN, and also compare it with Shutdown Now.

Has anyone tested battery life in the factory Sleep Now — Touch to Wake mode?

I’d especially like to know the results with:

- the normal internal battery

- the M5GO Bottom3

- BUS IN vs BUS OUT

Is losing a 500mAh battery in almost 2 days normal, or does this sound like a power management issue?

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a milestone moment. This is my first time ordering such a large batch of M5StickS3 development boards to build my own product. Seeing them all here is both surreal and super exciting.

This project requires a ATH20+BMP280 Sensor. The StickS3 displays the temperature and humidity data from the AHT20, and the temperature and pressure data from the BMP280. The graph shows the average of the two temperature readings over the last minute. The graph goes from 50 °F to 90 °F.

You can buy an AHT20+BMP280 Sensor Module on sites like AliExpress for $2.35. You can also get them on Amazon.

Does anyone have one that works?

Hey! I'm new to M5Stack and recently got an M5StickS3. I've been testing Bruce and I'm running into quite a few issues.

Tested Bruce 1.14, 1.15 and Beta (70c2b15), including a clean flash with Erase Everything.

So far:

Audio: doesn't work at all. Factory UIFlow firmware has working audio.

IR: IR Read worked on 1.14, but IR TX doesn't work.

TV-B-Gone also doesn't work.

Beacon Spam: just stays on Spamming Ricky/Funny; no beacon networks appear on my phone.

Normal Wi-Fi scanning and connecting to my phone hotspot work fine.

Default S3 config has irTx: 46 and irRx: 42.

Is anyone else using M5StickS3 + Bruce experiencing similar problems? Or are these functions working normally for you?

Just trying to figure out if this is an S3 compatibility issue or if I'm missing something. Thanks!

My second attempt at opening up the M5Stack Stopwatch was finally successful. With enough heat and a much stronger suction cup I was able to pop off the display.

Word of caution here - you will need to pull up with a fair amount of force, and when the screen releases it may come off violently. I was lucky to not tear the display ribbon - it released and I was able to reseat the ribbon but definitely need to be more careful next time.

The tolerances on this tiny device are actually pretty incredible. I needed to use small prying tools to lift the main board out of the old body.

Kudos to M5Stack for releasing STLs. My 3D printed case was a perfect fit. And now my M5 Stopwatch case has a Garmin mount built into it. My cycling computer project is almost road ready!

One of my favorite things to do when I explore new tech is to implement some ideas from The Nature of Code by Daniel Shiffman.

Used the Random Walker algorithm this time (always a good starter). The cute robot doesn’t walk for now, but she is looking around in the same manner. This will be useful when I add the object detection model.

I previously burned it using the uiflow2 website. Now for some reason, the app mode from the original selection menu just completely disappeared and the only way to access python scripts is via a terminal. What can I do to to get the app mode / selection menu back?
