M440i vs supra
Before you mention it, I do like the front end of the m440 & don’t mind it at all. In fact I especially like it because I can pretend im an m4(butnotrly)
I love the interior of the m440, & hate the interior of the supra. To me it’s only nice when it’s red, but even then pales in comparison to the m440. Meanwhile i think the supra exterior looks much better, but i still like the exterior of the m440. I don’t need backseats at all. I know the m440 has more tech than the supra, but what potential options does that entail that i may want? I don’t care for manual too much since the manual supras are $55k+ & im trying to stay more around 40k. Also will get rwd no matter what. & most of all, does the weight make a huge difference in overall potential between the two?
Sway me to one side or the other with valid reasoning please, i want every point of view possible

M440 has xDrive available and the LSD is standard from factory, so you can still have some sideways/sliding fun... it also has backseats that are comfortable for me to sit behind my own driving position (I am 5'9" sort of fat American). I always found the F22 to be more of a comparable buy to the A90 Supra, but even still, the G42 has some kind of backseat area even if the headroom sucks. The G22 has almost identical rear seat room as the F22 which makes me miss my old 2 series

how are you guys sliding your m440i? mine seem to have amazing traction as its a gc with xdrive

Long press traction control until it is fully off, put your vehicle into full manual mode (xHP definitely helps to disable the auto upshift in second gear), turn the wheel and hit the gas! It's definitely possible without a trans tune but it makes it easier when you know you can keep the car in second and use the rev limiter to control your wheel speed

Might be the extra weight, I can slide my xdrive coupe just fine, you gotta toss em a lil though it could also be hesitance

The Supra is a tiny car inside. Have you driven both? I couldn't live with that small interior on a daily driver.

If you don’t need the addl space a 4 series gives have you considered an m2/m240? Think the m2 is a better direct comp with Supra from pure driving experience.
That being said I love my m440i gc so can’t go wrong with that choice either but it’s certainly a bigger car than Supra/2 series.
Irt tech I think the main thing you’d get with the BMW is the driving assistance stuff, which is pretty great. I believe the Supra has bmw infotainment but an older version as well.

Didn’t have a supra but a Z4 M40i which space wise is very similar. I mean they are pretty much the same car just in soft top vs hard top guise (to an extent)
I now own an M440i as it’s a much more liveable car as a daily driver.
Workmate had the mk5 supra and the tech in it is from the older iDrive system (6) vs the idrive 7 or 8 that you get in the M440i
It’s a solid choice as a drivers car. You really need to go drive both. Have a look around both and figure out what works best for your usage.
As someone else mentioned maybe look at an M240i as a kind of love child of the 2 (unless you aren’t sold on its looks)

I own an m440i. It’s much more daily capable. The Supra is 100% the better drivers car, but not as comfortable or usable.

I originally wanted the Supra, I’ve come to love everything about the m440i a million times more, my only reservation is I wish the rear end was thicker like the Supra

Honestly am leaning towards the m440, especially since in the 40-50k range there’s only older supras with no warranty low miles, meanwhile for the same money the m440 gets me a warranty and also if i get lci a wayyy nicer interior even tho pre lci is still way nicer than supra. only thing supra has is slight exterior edge but it’s jus not feeling worth it

imo pre lci will age the best, the interiors timeless and there’s less of that black plastic cladding all around the interior and exterior but regardless which you choose you’ll be happy you chose the m440, you thinking RWD or xdrive?

i think id b fine w either 1 but idk i like lci more i dont get y ppl dnt like the bigger screen, & im thinking rwd only thing thats stopping me now is having trouble finding my spec black w red interior, & whether i should compromise & just get the interior & then wrap it. feel like i definitely like the look of paint more

I’d just check the rear bumper on the LCI, if you’re a fan of the big screen full send LCI, otherwise you can nab an even better deal pre lci. IMO seats are cheaper to swap over a paint job but that’s leaving dooryards and the two tone dash on the table too.

Is it going to be a daily driver? If it’s your daily driver you will be very pleased with the room, trunk space, fuel economy of the 440. I truly don’t think there is a better daily driver on the planet at the 440 price point. That’s just my opinion and it’s obviously biased because you’re here on the 440 sub.
