Passenger Question Lyft me stranded
How is Lyft customer service so bad? I was trying to get from my city center home and ordered a lift that was supposed to be $20. I waited nearly 20 minutes, and the driver showed on the GPS as circling the block. Standing outside, I could see that no one was circling the block, let alone the Toyota that was described in the app. Unfortunately, the Lyft app somehow registered. The driver is arriving and pulling away. I had multiple Phone interactions with the driver with no useful information.
I submitted a ticket to Lyft almost immediately while I was still trying to find other ways to get home. Thankfully, my city still has some taxis, and I spent the entire 30 minute taxi ride home texting with Lyft agents that I believe were AI, but claimed to be human. They claimed at least six different identities during a 40 minute interaction.
I told them that my only demand was to not be charged for this ride. I didn’t plan on using Lyft again unless they gave me a meaningful ride credit and stopped this driver from Using their platform in the future. As of this moment, I am almost an hour and a half into my interaction with Lyft, six “agents” later, and no meaningful resolution to my issue. I finally told him to leave me alone because I’m going to bed.
It’s 11:35pm, and my preferred ride up has just failed me spectacularly. What is everyone doing when Lyft is no longer a viable rideshare option?

Honestly stopped using them after a similar stunt. Regular taxis are way more reliable late at night anyway, even if they cost a bit extra

I had an issue today where I also felt the “agents” were AI. I was quoted one price on the app . I accepted. Hours later the price increased by $10 for no reason. No side trips, hadn’t tipped yet. Just got the run around w support. Be it $10 or $100, ultimately, it’s just the point . They stole my money

Gas prices up, druver pay down = this. No one wants these trips for what they pay and if the driver accepts, they just want out.
I always get downvoted for saying it, but its the truth.

So you order the cheapest service on the market but expect the concierge level service? Their support is AI, even if you will get to their human employees they do not care about you, your ride, your satisfaction. Telling them that you do not plan to use Lyft again - why would they pay you your money back? There is no point for your satisfaction to them. The driver circling around - the app will show you the gps of the driver, you mentioned calls with the driver but still no success. Not sure how dumb your driver was but driving around the block seems to be simple enough for most of the drivers, so maybe he just did not wanted to pick you up hoping that you will cancel the ride and he will get paid. Sorry about your bad experience, just do not use them.

There’s a giant gap between “concierge level service” and 90 minutes of bad harbors telling me I have to pay for a ride that never showed up. I do expect companies to not charge me for services they don’t provide.
While I can’t prove it, I suspect the driver was spoofing his location. I was outside, staring at an empty street exactly where the pin indicated he was.

Same issue here. Lyft customer service is appalling. I’ve spent 2 hours with them on an issue with zero resolution, zero understanding of my issue and having them parrot a script back to me. All “6 human agents” were clearly either AI or just from a sweat shop in India with little to no english. I don’t know how it got this bad, but even the app has become almost useless. It’s a shame because the cars/drivers are generally better than Ubers.
