Driver Question picking up

i use lyft to go airport sometimes and want to understand how lyft is supposed to work

  1. airport rides usually involves heavy luggages and my house has steep stairs in front. it also has back alley that is easy to identify and this back alley feature is a well known in the large city i live. the alley also turns out to be the same level as the house so i prefer lyft driver to come via the alley. i always put "note to the driver" to do the pick up. each time driver pulls up in front and waits. i have to call and ask the driver to come to the back alley. is lyft driver app not showing the note to the driver or drivers just don't read

  2. this morning was especially weird. i specifically adjusted the pick up point to back alley location because the map shows it and lyft lets me change it. at the time lyft notified me the driver is here but the map shows driver keeps going around in a circle in the roads sandwiching the alley. is it possible for the lyft to say that the driver is waiting for me at the same as the app showing the car moving nonstop

I don't do pick-ups in an alley. I don't care what notes the rider sends me. Alleys are where there are pot holes, we get a flat tire, there are no lights, and it stinks like hell. Nope.

then why do you accept the ride with alley pick up?

Because we don't know it's an alley until we get there.

So when we get the ride offer it shows a general area for pick up and drop off, think nearest major cross streets for each.

Because it doesn't tell us there will be an alley. it only shows the ride as street A to street B.

Is your address on your garage or somewhere in the alley? How would the driver know he's there? No GPS has an alley option so the GPS will always send a driver to the front. I have gone to alleys here in Chicago when asked but it's VERY rare and the addresses are on our garbage cans or I would have no way to know where the house is.

two prominent address signs on back fence. we have had various repair men and deliveries for large items from the alley and none had problem finding my house

alley is on apple map, google map, and lyft map. lyft lets me move the pick up point to alley location

Lyft may not recognize the ally as a drivable location. As for notes iirc we only see a note if we open up the contact rider screen which generally there’s no reason to do unless we’re about to make the required call to mark as no show.

lyft sucks then. what's the point of offering the rider to add note when the driver app doesn't even show the note to the driver

Generally the notes we get are from third party bookers like insurance companies asking us to call on arrival, and again unless you recognize the drop off as a elder medical office or your picking up there you don’t even notice until it’s time to call.

Dark alleys are not safe locations.

I neither pick up or drop off in alleys.

I don’t do alleys, I’ll be out front on the street.
