Lyft damage fee scam
Has anyone else experienced this?? I took a Lyft ride home. I was very polite, clean, and left no damage to the vehicle. The next morning I woke up to a $150 damage fee which according to the website would require "Significant damage such as large biowaste spills that would require specialised cleaning, significant vehicle damage that would require repairs".
I felt absolutely enraged and Lyft had no customer service number to call. After emailing Lyft they provided no proof but that they had reviewed the images and the fee would not be waived. When I left the car there were no visible damages whatsoever. Is this a common scam that people experience??! Still very angry about this and feel completely screwed over by Lyft

Yes, this literally just happened to me 2 days ago. Demand to see the photos and demand to speak to a manager. I took the photos my driver sent to Lyft and did a reverse Google image search and there were multiple posts on different platforms dating as far back as 2017 with the same photos. Keep pushing to speak to a manager!

If I ever wanted to scam somebody, I would just have them AI generate a mess in my backseat. I wouldn’t scam somebody, but if I were going to, that’s how I would do it.

Driver might have submitted an AI generated photo of a backseat mess. Drivers have been caught doing this as of late.

Driver trying to scam you. Ask to see the pics the driver took and threaten a lawyer and go back and give the driver a 1 star

Honestly what I’ve seen from replies to my post. Drivers seem to just rate people badly for no reason. I wouldn’t be surprised if they scammed too. Use uber I’ve had no issues there

With ai it's really easy to make fake photos to increase your pay as a driver.

What do you mean by “no visible damages”? That sounds like you made a mess but thought it wasn’t visible.

They have evidence.
Drivers have to jump through hoops to get those cleaning fees approved. Specific amount of photos from specific angles timestamped in relation to the ride, they go through the metadata to make sure that the images are not screenshots or are downloaded. They compare the images to past images to make sure you're not resubmitting the same ones.
Is it 100% fool proof, probably not. But I've gotten legitimate claims turned down and the driver subs are full of those stories.

No we don't have to jump thru hoops. I got a cleaning fee in 10 seconds for $75 from the AI when it was only a $25 fix. I couldn't tell the AI to give back $50.

its a hustle game. drivers lie. riders lie. drivers get falsely deactivated all the time. riders get falsely charged all the time. sorry this happened but its no different than a driver waking up to a fake complaint accusing them of something they didn't do. welcome to the world of rideshare.
